A little bit about myself. I like writing and connecting with people and am interested in the best truckers GPS devices out there as more specialized GPS units are becoming available. My name is Al and I have been a trucker for the better part of my life and amongst other things I enjoy hiking. I guess that is where my interest in the GPS turned hobby on me. Not to mention that I have a lousy sense of direction. I started trucking long before the GPS and use to do my cross county hiking with a compass. As a trucker I ran the States and Canada for 25 years the first 3 of which I lived out of my truck. That is to say my truck was the only place I had to hang my hat. Settling down somewhat I built a mountain home in the South West. My enthusiasm for electronic toys including the GPS was from the stand point of making my work time more productive. Having fun while making your work easier. Good when it can be done. In recent years I have been running my truck intrastate. Probably something a lot of over the road drivers would like to do but it is still highly competitive. Oh yeah, like a lot of drivers out there I have been married more than once and have driven a million miles more than once.
