Christina J Snellgrove (Street Articles Author)

I am Christina; better known as Ditsy Mae. I earned that nickname from my husband when we were dating. I lived next door to him for many years with my two children. He had always thought of me as a rather prim and proper lady, or city girl, until we started dating. We had been neighbors for almost 10 years when he finally got the courage up to ask me on a date. As we got to know one another he was surprised to learn that I was a small town farm girl from south Alabama. I suppose something about a farm girl that cleaned up nice deserved a good southern nickname like Ditsy Mae... Whatever the reason, it stuck and I have been known by that name ever since.

As I mentioned before, I grew up in south Alabama. We had a small patch of land where we grew most all of our vegetables. My grandparents lived just up the hill and I spent most of my days in the kitchen with my grandmother. It was a simple life with few luxuries, but I have many fond memories from my childhood.

During my young adult years I got married and started a family. We moved around a bit with my husband being in the Air Force. As with many military families, the marriage was rocky and before long I was a single mother. I moved back home to Alabama with my children and bought a house in northeast Alabama. That's where I met the love of my life.

Together we have a son and two daughters. They are all grown with families of their own so we spend much of our time together working on various hobbies. He enjoys flying RC airplanes, fishing, and doing woodwork mostly. As for me, I like doing a little of everything. I enjoy crochet, knitting, painting, photography, woodwork, gardening, fishing, hunting... The list goes on; but writing is my favorite of all. What do I write about? My hobbies of course!

As I learn new things, I like to share what I have learned with others. Whether it's just telling about my experiences or teaching someone how to do some of the things I enjoy; I love to write! I began keeping a journal of my thoughts and feelings when I was in high school. From there, I started writing poems and short stories. Recently, I have been writing "how to" blogs for crochet, knitting, and jewelry design. The more I learn in life, the more I like to share those things with others.

That's basically my story in a nutshell. It's simple and sweet in my world. I believe we should never take anything for granted and always give more than we take in life. If you are interested in learning more about me or my life experiences, you can find me on Facebook. Just search my name, I'm there!
