Originally from Nova Scotia, I have retired and now live on southern Vancouver Island. My 37 years in federal service, Air Force and Canadian Coast Guard, lead me everywhere from the Canadian high Arctic, both coasts, Great Lakes and a two year stint in Bermuda. Hobbies include writing, wood turning and motorcycling.

I have been known to turn very expensive and exotic wood in a pile of useless shavings in a very short time. I think I have the record on that.

My novels generally take me a year to write and two years to edit.

My third hobby, motorcycling, seems to be the only hobby I am fairly good at but it has taken me 46 years of riding to get to the level I am at. I plan to keep riding until I am so old that I can't remember where I parked it or can't remember how to start it.

2007 Harley Sportster - Owner’s Review
Having owned numerous motorcycles in the past forty-seven years, I think I have experienced most of the extremes and conditions one can meet with ordinary driving. In the early sixties, I started riding the little Japanese two-wheeled chainsaws. Cheap and dependable. The Harley's I saw in those days were similar…

A Day In the Life Of A Witch
Anna Maria Ludwig, my ancestral great grandmother, lived in the village of Kleinheubach am Main, southeast of Frankfurt, Germany. My family had been caught up in the Erbach witch persecutions which were overseen by the owner of her village, Duke Ludwig Erbach. In all, forty-eight citizens of the village were…

Witches In My Family
As part of the research into my own family genealogy, I found that my great-grandmother(x7), Anna Maria Ludwig, was the last person accused of witchcraft in the village of Kleinheubach am Main, Germany. I wrote my very first novel as a semi-fiction built around her and found that many people,…

Beginning Genealogy
Genealogy is the study of your family lineage. You are as you are because of the deeds and lives of your ancestors. I have often heard people say, "Who cares? They are dead!" For many of us, however, it is a curiosity and a quest. The journey backwards in time…

The Spammer
I Hate SPAM I am one of those people who absolutely detest SPAM. Spammers are unscrupulous, dishonest people too dumb to use proper Internet Marketing techniques. For me, annoyance turned to disgust when a genealogy forum I created became inundated daily with spammers, including porn. Every day, I removed the…

Harley Vs Honda - An Owner's Perspective
Like most of the kids in the 60's, my motorcycling life began with a little Japanese two-stroke. In my case, it was a Yamaha 80, then a Twin Jet 100 and upwards. They were fun and affordable for a kid with nothing more than a part time job. The only…

Maggie And Me - A Summer Affair
While I was living in my last house and still single, I spent a lot of time gardening. The hot afternoon sun beat down on my front yard and I tried my best to turn the area into a little oasis. I dug a deep pit which became a small…

Ipad Apps Can Boost Productivity

Motorcycle Safety
ACCREDITED COURSES For all newer drivers, I could not more highly recommend an accredited motorcycle safety course. The new rider will be taught many of the riding and safety skills that some people learn much too late, if at all. In many places, you even get a deduction on your…
