I am beginning a new online life - something I have avoided doing in the past. Looking forward to connecting with many of you.

My interests are varied, as has been my career, having spanned the globe and about 5 different industries (engineering, international development, information systems, leadership development and coaching/therapy).

I currently work with communities, governments and international development partners around the world to help them realise the potential of innovative approaches in solving complex country and global challenges, while helping teams and leaders develop the 'non-technical' skills that often determine programme, project or team success.

The challenges facing humanity are vast, and involve all of us one way or another. It is necessary now more than ever to explore new ideas, new thinking, new systems and new solutions.

My focus here is on writing useful articles related to improving your online productivity with tools and techniques that don't have to be expensive - preferably free!

I may stray occasionally from this central theme - but that is in my nature!

Feel free to reach out if you want to see specific topics covered or you want more details.

Regards,

David Hagan

Where is the Gmail Whitelist?
If you've ever subscribed to one of those newsletters or bought something online, you'll often notice the provider of the service giving you a warning to 'check your spam folder' or to 'ensure you add this domain to your email whitelist'. (I'm assuming most of you know what a whitelist…

Google Search - the Tricks Of Power Researchers
I was with an NGO (non-governmental organization) the other day whose communications officer needed to automatically issue a pre-canned Google search on their website. They wanted to make sure specific results were highlighted or emphasised and were struggling with the task. Surprisingly (to me at least), they had never made…

Gmail Email Search Secrets
Google has made us lazy! It's search algorithms are so good, and it has so much data to tune its algorithms against (estimated at 100 billion searches per month) that it seems that Google is almost mind-reading what we are after sometimes. And at other times, - not! Search and…

The Newbies Guide to Gmail Labels
Let's start at the very beginning. It's a very good place to start ...! I am assuming you have just opened a Google Gmail account, and you're wondering what the heck labels are. Or perhaps you've been using Gmail for some time, but all you've really done is used the…
