Fred Kalt (Street Articles Author)

I am very excited to be writing articles for Street Articles. It gives me something to do since my last artistic outlet was squelched at such an early age. Let me explain. Many years ago, I graduated from Nursing School, which was supposed to have been a bridge to medical school. Wrong, that didn't work out since I had 3 children at that time and the Army felt they were a handicap to my success as a doctor in the army, or at least to invest in me to go to school. My family and I moved up to Alaska at that point in time, and I worked as an Licensed Practical Nurse, until jobs were very difficult to get because of the oil crisis in the early 80's. So I decided to pursue a singing career. I began studying under Gloria Marinacci Allen,in 1982. I think I spelled her name correctly, It's been a long time since that time. Nonetheless, I started auditioning for Opera roles and became fairly successful at my career. You can read all about it on Google or You Tube, under FREDERIC KALT. It was fun. Then one night, on the stage of the Vienna Staatsoper, I croaked. And I mean bad. Singing Bacchus in Ariadne auf Naxos. Bummer, to say the least. After extensive therapy with a well knowned voice specialist, who will remain nameless, I underwent several neurological tests only to be told they thought I had Myasthenia Gravis. After extensive treatment and surgeries to try and correct the problem, I found out I didn't have the disease after all. Another bummer. I had taken all these treatments and suffered 3 long years thinking I was going to die, only to be told I was okay. Which was okay, don't get me wrong, I still couldn't sing, so I went back into nursing. Until, I stumbled on article writing and Internet Marketing. I am happy to sit at the computer, spending the day with my animals ( 3 dogs and 6 cats). I am slowly getting my voice back, but in a different way. I am now becoming vocal in article writing. How much fun is that? I hope only the best to whomever reads this very short biography, and wish only the finest success in whatever you do. Don't let things define you as I did as a singer. Go with the upstream flow, as a salmon would getting ready to spawn. Always going the extra mile in life and doing your best, at all times. God Bless, Fred Kalt
