Harriet Kyle (Street Articles Author)

I was born on a farm in Missouri. I lived there with my mom, dad, grand parents, two brothers and two sisters. I like to say I'm the oldest of the youngest and youngest of the oldest. I'm the one they write books about; I'm the middle child. Also I'm the oldest girl. When I was on the farm I learned a lot. My grandmother taught me a lot about hard work, to never give up and to always be grateful for what you have. She also taught me about cooking and keeping your family healthy. Grandma was a midwife and I accompanied her on many a home-birth.

Dad's job uprooted us to Palm Beach County, Florida in 1960. Talk about culture shock! I have a son Wayne, no grand kids, but two awesome grand pups.

I've been a hairdresser for about 30 years. I love doing hair, makeup, sewing, cooking; in general making the world a pretty place to live. I'm interested in Health, staying healthy, and doing what is best for me and the ones I love.

I moved to the Florida Keys 5 years ago. I work at Little Palm Island. It is an exclusive private island in the Atlantic ocean. I am the lead cosmetologist, doing hair, make up and nails. I also make up brides. I guess if you have to be stuck working, Little Palm is a great place to get stuck.
