I consider myself an expert on aging. My expert status was achieved by living this long. I say I am semi-retired because even though I am retired from a full time job, I still am active and feel I am busier now than I was when I worked. For the present, I will concentrate on articles that have to do with aging and my way to approach it.

I recently wrote an article on volunteering. In researching the subject I came across the Senior Corps. I did not recall ever hearing about the Senior Corps and wondered how something can be around for such a long time and I knew nothing about it. The Senior Corps is comprised…

Volunteering for Seniors
Being in my mid-70's, I keep thinking of ways to stay young. Being a realist, this will never happen. I am growing older and nothing I do can stop that. However, I can practice many ways to think young and act young and therefore feel young. One of the many…

How Old Are You?
Someone asked me "when did you realize you were old?" My answer came immediately "I'm not old". I'm on what some might consider the wrong side of 70, but I still do not consider myself old. I qualified my answer by saying that there are so many things I cannot…

Why It's Great To Be A Senior
When you have a family history like mine, you don't expect to live to be in your mid 70's. Everyone in my family died at a fairly early age. At age 56 I became the oldest living male in my immediate family. I feel every day I am alive is…

Brain Exercises for Seniors
From all research that I have done, increasing brainpower can increase mental dexterity in seniors. There are ways to keep the mind active and improve the brain. Don't be one of those growing old who lets their brain atrophy. LEARN A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT I can play a piano. I've been…

In this article, I want to propose one more method for treating the pains of arthritis and that is yoga. Yoga can be a meaningful and enjoyable alternative to traditional forms…

Exercise for Seniors With Arthritis
Let's discuss how exercising can help reduce aches and pains. Not only is it beneficial, for the most part it can be done at NO cost (free is always best). Research has shown that exercise and managing your arthritis go hand in hand. I am a member of Sliver Sneakers…

Effects Of Supplements And Herbs on Aging
I am a great believer in natural supplements - to a point. So, with aches and pains in my joints, I have heard a great deal about glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM and hyaluronic acid. My research on these supplements have done nothing but opened up more questions about their effectiveness. Glucosamine…

It's Great to Be A Senior
Yes, it's great to be a senior, senior citizen, that is! If you are like I am, I'm surprised to be alive at this age which is my mid 70's. Very few of my immediate family members have made it this far. My mother lived to be 79, but my…
