Kali Webb (Street Articles Author)

I grew up in the Kansas City area. I wasn't anyone spectacular or memorable - a little quiet, really. I went to college and graduated from the University of Kansas with a BS in Business Marketing. I went to graduate school and got my MBA in Marketing from the University of Missouri at Kansas City.

Kansas City is right on the border of the two states Kansas and Missouri. So while technically a Kansas Jayhawker, I now live in Missouri. I teach at a local community college, but I still have a fondness for my original state. My cars still have Kansas Jayhawks license plates on them which creates a real stir because I am in the heart of Missouri Tigers territory.

Each semester I remind my students that the red car in the faculty parking lot with Kansas Jayhawks plates is not to be touched - and if it is vandalized, then all students will fail my class (a good natured threat).

In 1989 my younger brother was seriously injured in an auto accident and was confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. I became his primary caregiver which was a 24/7 obligation. This was an obligation to which I didn't object.

We ran businesses together, rode bicycles, went horseback riding, flew airplanes, and basically anything and everything. I am now interested in sports for people with disabilities and serve on the board for several Disability Awareness councils in the area.

I semi-retired to a small farm in the Missouri Ozarks and live among lots of very spoiled animals, including horses, dogs, cats, birds, fish & a chicken.

Life has been good to me and I want to help people who have a disability enjoy their lives the way my brother enjoyed his.
