My name is Kelsey. I just started at Street Articles in 2014. However, I have loved to cook, read and write for most of my life.

In my picture, my hair is auburn. This is my natural hair color. It is also fairly short. This is because two weeks before this picture was taken, I had had my hair cut and I donated ten inches so that it could be made into a wig for a child who has lost some or all of her hair. This is something that I have done ten times. I was inspired to do this when two close family friends were diagnosed with cancer two decades ago. Thankfully, both of these people are still alive now and I have made use of my hair as a renewable resource. My ends do not split and it does not bother me, so this is good! In the picture, I am holding a platter of roasted vegetables that I was able to share with others at an event that I attended.

For cooking, I typically view recipes as suggestions. Sometimes, I follow a recipe precisely the first time but then make changes when I make it again. This is frequently true when I make items such as bread and cookies with which I am less confident about what I am doing. With soup, salad, and pasta, among other items, I have made the foods enough to choose my own adventure without needing to stay inside someone else's established boundaries!
