I’m 35 years old and I excel with ADHD. Yep, you heard me right. I do not suffer from ADHD. To me, it’s a gift. I excel. I use it to my advantage by finding creative ways to use the symptoms. For example, I get hyper and my house goes from a disaster to passing a white gloved inspection in a matter of a few hours! I get hyper-focused and a week’s worth of work is done in 3 or 4 hours. And most importantly, I use my own experiences growing up to teach my son how to cope with his own symptoms.

I’m a single mom and my son was recently diagnosed with epilepsy at age 8. However, he was diagnosed with ADHD when he was age 3, even though his Pediatrician said that was a bit young for an ADHD diagnosis. We’ve figured out over the years that he actually has Epilepsy. And secondary to that he has Narcolepsy, ADHD, and Sensory Integration Disorder. I no longer think that my childhood was rough. This poor kid is showing me how good I had it!

Naturally it has taken a lot of creativity to teach my son and help him through his daily challenges. I’ve been one of those parents of ADHD children desperately seeking answers and searching for tips and techniques to help my son to be successful. And I would love to share my own experiences with you and help you to have an easier day, even if just one day, by suggesting a technique that might work for you. It takes a village to raise a child. If you ever feel the need to share or have any questions, please do reach out.
