LATOYA SMILE … an intuitive artist, photographer, poet and prolific writer whose talent for the visual arts was realized at an early age. Born in the parish of Kingston, Jamaica, I was inspired by the concept of being able to capture a thought, then giving it life with words, or paints on canvas.

My first poem was written at the age of 10, entitled ANGER, shortly followed by THE WORLD. Later, I started sketching and creating collages and so on. With the help and encouragement of family members and close friends, I tried my hands at painting. After a few days, I was amazed at how much I enjoyed doing this Art-form.

Inspiration is derived from just about any and everything around; from news broadcasts, to personal experiences, other person’s experiences, and also my own creative imagination and innate abilities. I am passionate about my Christian principles which is manifested throughout various works. This has facilitated in the development of my own unique skills and techniques.
