Laurie Bassart1 (Street Articles Author)

I’m fairly new to this article writing, blogging thing but I’m kinda diggin’ it. I actually think that I have sort of a natural talent for it. I’ve been a Sunday school teacher for over 20 years. I think that that has made me a very good storyteller. Teaching kids makes you become a better teacher and storyteller. The cool thing about teaching kids is you get instant feedback for how well you are teaching the class. If you ramble on even a little bit, those little varmints will start to fidget and misbehave. Teaching kids forces you to condense the information down in the simplest terms, yet you have to keep the story exciting or you will lose their interest.

I apply those same storytelling techniques to my writing. Condense as much information as I can into easy to understand terms and still keep it exciting enough to hold people’s interest.

I think that everyone is an expert at something. Something that I have gained some expertise in is alternative cancer treatment, and I have put my money where my mouth is because I am currently using an alternative treatment to treat my own breast cancer. Now I’m getting people asking me questions and asking me for advice. I’m really not that smart. All I did was read a book! I read a book called, “Outsmart Your Cancer,” by Tanya Harter Pierce. My goal is to write short summaries of some of the different alternative treatments that Ms. Pierce writes about in great detail, and my website is devoted to educating people about alternative cancer treatment.

My son Cory is autistic and so my world pretty much revolves around him. We're best bud's and we love just hanging out together.

I’m happily married to my husband Carlos and each year just gets better and better. Every challenge we face in life just brings us closer together. I am confident that we will get through this latest cancer challenge and I continue to look forward to a promising future!
