Marilyn Martyn (Street Articles Author)

I'm Marilyn, teacher, librarian, literacy and mathematics tutor. I have had over 35 years teaching English and mathematics in primary and secondary schools. Teaching young children to read is my passion. I know that too many children leave primary school with inadequate reading skills. Most children can be taught to read and should never experience the limitations that illiteracy causes. I am an expert in providing daily lessons for children to do at home under the supervision of a parent or adult caregiver. I am very proud of my book, 'Phonics for Kids-Teach Your Child to Read Better.' It is a reading course for beginning readers and includes phonics and traditional stories to help a child develop phrased and fluent reading. I am a small business owner. My tutoring business is Superlearner Education. My complementary online lessons have been downloaded by people all over the world. I research and write articles and book reviews. I write articles for my Superlearner Education Blog to support parents who are home schooling their children. I search for and evaluate programs that can develop children's learning online. The Internet provides the resources for children to learn at their own rate, but direction from an experienced adult is still necessary. I am using my extensive educational experience in schools to develop resources for parents who have decided to home school their children.
