Hi! I'm Patty and I love cooking, writing and helping people. I've been writing all my life and was published many times as a free-lance writer in the '70's. I still do a lot of writing and recently began blogging-which I love. My other great joy is cooking and that too is something I've done since I was young. I taught natural foods cooking for over 30 years and have helped many people make the transition toward a healthy, organic, whole foods way of life. I found that cooking, just like writing, is an art and is a way of expressing life. So the two go together perfectly! Since I began blogging, I found that my cooking life easily leads into many other topics I can write about. And I think my writing skills are serving me well helping me do what I love and express myself creatively.

There's a whole lot more to using color in food photography than just picking up the color wheel as I talked about in Lesson 1. Once you've got your colors, what can you do to make them stand out? We've all heard of programs such as Photoshop and Paint and…

Food Photography Adventure - Lesson 1: The Color Wheel
The first breakthrough in my quest to take better photographs of my food happened when I started writing a series on my blog about dark chocolate mousse. The series features a different dark chocolate mousse recipe each month for 2013. Not only had I never ever made dark chocolate or…

Inspiration to Write
What does it take to keep you writing? This is the question I recently asked my writing and blogging friends and the answers (some of them hilarious) ranged from "four extra shots in my latte," "getting out of my house/office and visiting a new place or traveling somewhere," and "discipline--sheer…

In A Pickle
If you have not regularly eaten naturally fermented foods, or you drink chlorinated and/or fluoridated water or if you recently took a round of antibiotics, chances are you have not got enough "friendly bacteria" in your digestive track. Why would you want to have bacteria there? Well, normally we humans…

Cooking Challenge: Inspiration is the Name Of the Game
Sometimes finding inspiration for cooking can get sluggish. I often get a gaggle of good ideas and set out to create all these new wonderful dishes and then when they're done, there are no new ideas. When the well runs dry, I need to prime the pump! Some people like…

More Summer Dinner Ideas
We have experienced a particularly brutal heat wave in my neck of the woods. And from what I've heard, you probably have too. Summer has really just begun so we could be in for a long, hot one! Not only have I given my oven an LOA (Leave of Absence)…

A Writer Writes
When I mention to people that I am a writer I usually get a lot of nods and comments like, "Oh, cool." That is, until I mention it to someone who also writes or wants to be a writer. Then the conversation begins! "How do you do it?" "What do…

Choosing Cookware
Most people know that the quality of their food can make a difference in their health. But how many know that the quality of cookware is also important and can impact their health? It definitely can make a difference and I'm going to briefly explain why. The main reason has…
