Hi, my name is Satish Chandra Varma, or just Satish.I was born and raised in various cities in India. I have been in Uganda for the last 10 years and I find it God's own country. There is much I have learnt from the indigenous people, the way they handle conflict, anguish, personal loss and interpersonal relationships.

Whatever our age, I believe we owe it to ourselves to grow, to acquire new skills, to continuously re-engineer ourselves, to be at the cutting edge of our professional and personal lives. That' what gives us satisfaction, what drives us. I do wish that what I write reflects that belief.

My interests lie in (but not limited to ) music-all genres, philosophy, reading, cooking, and people. I believe patience and commitment (pardon the cliché) help us get to where we wish to reach.

Patient, Cure Thyself!
I have always believed that if the good Lord has given us illnesses to chastise us, He has also provided cures close at hand. Don’t you remember the remedy your grandma gave you for your cough from the kitchen shelf? In fact, most house- holds across the world have their…

Catch the liar
Here’s something I read that I thought I should share with you.  A friend says, ‘I have been thinking about you’ when I call her and actually I have not been on her event horizon for years.  My neighbour says he loves my new shirt when he wouldn't…

The Evolution Of An Icon - A Brief Biography Of Mandiba
The Nelson Mandela we knew was actually born Rohilahla Mandela, Rohilahla ironically meaning ‘troublemaker’. His father was in line for the tribal chieftain ship, but lost both the title and his fortune following a conflict with the local white magistrate. The family was in dire straits over the next few…

Ugandans - An Example Of Patience
The Ugandans are a very patient people. As an Indian in that country for the past several years, it was a study in contrasts. To paraphrase Dieter Friedrich Uchtdorf , a German airline executive and religious leader, patience is not apathetic surrender, nor is it an absence of action because…

Building Confidence
Imagine two people who have come to you for a job. Both are equally qualified and in all other respects are at par. But one is more confident than the other. Which one would you choose? That is a no-brainer isn't it? Quite simply, a positive sense of the self…

Megadeath - Supercollider - album Review
Megadeth released its fourteenth instalment, ‘Super Collider’ in June this year. Set all your expectations down as you spin this record, and accept that this not going to be a rock out, it’s a ‘sit through’. After having created exceptional pieces of work like Endgame, signalling a real comeback by…

Spare A Thought for Your Future
It’s never too early to protect your family’s financial well-being. Most of us are so busy juggling work, raising a family, and attending to other commitments that we tend to shelve matters that may not be on our immediate radar screen. Very soon, we promise ourselves, we will take care…
