More people are asking the question. How do I choose a career path? I think the biggest mistake that people make, is blindly entering college and majoring in something that they have little or no interest in. If you are in college, it should be because you legitimately want to be there. NOT because your parents want you to, or because that's what you think your "supposed" to do after high school.

I know plenty of doctors and dentists that would do anything to go back and change their career path when they were young, but now they feel stuck. Some people choose a career based on what they think will make them the most money. Some people choose a career based on what they know. What if all you know is based on what you learned in college? What if you have little or no interest for what you learned in college? DO NOT CHOOSE A CAREER BASED ON THESE THINGS!

When you are learning how to choose a career path, you should take money out of the equation. What can you picture yourself doing for the rest of your life FOR FREE? What can you picture yourself doing only because it makes you happy? If you are completely unsure about what you want to do with your life then don't worry.

In my experience the best way to find a life-long career is to do exactly what you want, and DON'T PUT IT OFF! If you have always wanted to go skydiving, then go. If you have always wanted to make a music video, then make one! Do not make excuses about not having enough time or money. If you want to do it bad enough then you have to force yourself to take the first step. From there, the opportunities will reveal themselves as you go along.

Set small goals, and force yourself to make progress to reach those goals every day! As you go, you will meet people and make new connections that will open the doors to your new career. Life experience in the real world is 100 times more valuable then college experience in my opinion.

It takes courage venture into the unknown and do exactly what you want, even if you don't have any clue of how your going to do it. This is why most people never attempt to do it. That's also why most people live a life of monotony and boredom. The best way to get a great career is to take the first step even though you might not have any idea of what you are doing.
