Money is fluid
Money is a very fluid concept. Both in terms and keeping it in our lives. Money is just an exchange. I give you so much amount of money, and you give me something in return (product, service, information, etc). In economic thinking, one of the 6 principles is that, there is no free lunch. Meaning everything has a price, sometimes it doesn’t always cost money, but then there is you are spending your time, which you can never get back.
Spending your time, spending your money
People are protective amongst their money because most people have to spend their time at work, and trade their hours of the day for dollars on a paycheck. Then when they go buy something, they want to make sure they get the most out of it because they have spent part of their lives for that money they are handing over. So when you buy something, you just haven’t spent your money, but your time as well to get that product.
A different way to think of money
Learning about money includes studying it just like you would anything else.
How does it work
What is the history of it
How did the rich truly get wealthy
You can learn about money from the people that are around you now. Your friends, family, co workers, etc. But are they where you want to be financially? Do they live and have the freedom that you are dreaming of? The most expensive advice sometimes is what you get for free. Everyone will give you reasons why something won’t work and you can’t do that. But if you see it working for others, then you know it can be done. What you need to ask yourself is, “What are they doing? What do they know and understand that I don’t right at this point?” And then go find the answers.
Financial education
Just like going to school you can become a doctor, accountant, dancer, teacher, or any number of things. You can also go to school for being rich. But in today’s world right now, going to school for a financial education is a self-study. No one is going to give you homework, hold you accountable, give you credit for showing up and telling you that you were absent when you don’t. It is self-regulated and you have to keep yourself in school.
What would it include?
There was no Wealth 101, Understanding Taxes and how to lower them 202, or Income 340 when you went to school. But that is exactly what you are going to study when you go for a degree in financial education. Topics and subjects that include:
Taking correct action
Taxes
Income - Earned, Portfolio, Passive
Employee, Business Owner
Having more than a great idea for a business
Building a team
Thinking about money the correct way, with abundance not scarcity
Cash Flow VS Capital Gains
All this and more is what is included in a financial education. To understand these concepts is building a great foundation to build your wealth upon.
