I was on a call a few nights ago with Entrepreneur Robin Firestone; she was talking about the importance of having balance in our entrepreneurial lives to become successful. I just cannot stop thinking about it, so I decided this was my cue to share it with you here today.
When I started to think about all of this it really made a lot of sense to me, we are all born in balance, we knew when we were hungry, were tired, and when our diapers needed to be changed. Then as we got older we were untaught to unlearn the state of living.
The first step to getting balanced in your life is to start with these questions.
• Are you living in a place where you thought you would be at this stage in your life?
• Are you moving closer to your goals or further away?
• Do you even know who you are?
• Are you in charge of YOU?
If you can answer these questions you will be in balance with yourself.
Getting yourself in the right mindset is the first step. Remind yourself what you love to do. If you are not in balance, you will become unbalanced and won’t be as effective in your life and business. Become 100% in the present with who you are and what where you are. Physically and mentally learn how to work on your business.
Become 100% focused and you will be more productive. Commit to becoming more organized, also commit to becoming more in control. Plan ahead, by this I mean write down your schedule, of course things will come up and that is OK. We live in a busy world, but if you have things written down it will be a whole lot easier for you to accomplish them. Once you accomplish something, cross it off your list, you don’t have to get things perfect, just get it going.
What is perfect anyways? I have written ads, articles, and made many video’s that didn’t produce any result’s but did I just give up? No, I learned from doing! Start by prioritizing what needs to get done. Remember to write them down! If everything was a walk in the park life would be boring, there would be no challenges and everybody would be doing it. Work on being perfectly imperfect and you will accomplish a lot more.
Get organized and be in the present, here and now. BE–HERE-NOW-> get a handle on your entrepreneurial journey. I like done, it gives me a sense of accomplishment. How about you? Are you taking the right actions to get you where you want to be?
One other thing I would like to add here, this is still something I have to work on. Have the ability to say no, you see I have always been the yes gal! I volunteer to do benefits, I am always available to my team, and I will pick up the phone all hours of the day and night. This does hamper my income producing time as well as my family time. So learn to balance this time. Start scheduling time for yourself; it will help to rebalance your business and life.
Well it is what it is.. With everything that is going on in the world there is a lot of unbalance. Surround yourself with the right people, go ahead and find yourself an accountability partner to help you along the way. Just get it out there it doesn’t matter, do the work on the inside. Seek the answers and work harder on yourself then your business.
You cannot Do-Be-Have-> if you don’t start with balancing yourself first.
Good for you Shawn But there are actually 4 questions? Have a Great Weekend. Chery
Hi Chery. You offer excellent advice. I have a problem with balance, and imagine many people do. When you are entrepreneurial, or just deeply involved in what you are doing, you sometimes forget about other important aspects of your life, such as family and friendships, even exercise. When you do a lot of favors, you can fritter away time you should be using to grow your own business. Ideally, there should be time allocated for each important part of your life. No one can do everything, so you have to be selective, and often "no" is a useful response.
HI Joan Boy do you sound like ME.. Yes!!! NO can be useful But actually saying it can be a hard thing to do. You do need to know where your priorities lie... I Love your response Thanks for Sharing
HI Again Joan, I just found this video Loved it and wanted to share it with you I cannot put the link here though. It is called If you are not saying Hell Yeh Then Say No! It is by Derek Siver on Youtube See if you can find it.. Enjoy Chery
HI Rob,Thanks for taking the time to leave me a comment. I would have liked to have seen what you were writing about in this LONG Comment.. Go ahead and leave me another one if you like.. Chery
I was writing a long comment on here hit a button I don't know which and I ended at your Bio and my comment had disappeared... However, what I was saying is that I love the article but find most of it confusing to my situation, and because of that I find it difficult to comment from my point of view... It is a great article and I'm going to pop back later to see what the others have to say.. interesting angle..
Good ideas! Your life being balanced is useful, helpful and practical. Sometimes health can tip it all over - and then in picking up the pieces putting tiny bits in, in balance, is even how to be resilient and start over.
HI Cynthia, Great Comment, you never know what life is going to through your way. whether it is health, the loss of a loved one or unemployment it is always a great idea to stay focused and be one with yourself.
