Crayons Of Life

When we are born, we are given a box of crayons to be used in our life. The crayons we are given represent talents, levels of influence, possessions, friends… you name it. Some are given the box of eight, while some possess the box of sixty-four, with the sharpener on the back of their box.

The sad part of the story is a lot of us sit around questioning why we received a box of eight while a lot of our family and friends were blessed with what seems to be the big deluxe box containing awesome colors like fuchsia, periwinkle, and marigold, in their boxes.

The message for today is this, the Creator hands out the crayons he wants each of us to have. When I was born I got my crayons and yes, I have been guilty in the past of questioning my box. I have even thought, how unfair the colors I got. I have been envious of the people blessed with what I thought were the awesome colors, the colors I wanted and even coveted in my life.

Since I began my walk to a better life on The Road to Motivation I had to do some real soul searching in my own life. I had to come to the realization that the Creator blessed me with the exact crayons he want me to have. No more and no less.

I also realized that I had better open my coloring book of life and start coloring with the crayons I have in my box. I can sit at the table and stare at the box for week, months, and even years. The one thing that is true about that box of colors is that they are never going to change. The talents, gifts, and abilities I was given are all mine. They belong to me, good, bad, or indifferent, they are all mine. This is all the crayons I am going to get in this life. I can choose to get mad about it and stomp my foot and refuse to color in that big beautiful coloring book of life, or I can choose to get down to the business of coloring in the coloring book I was given. The Choice is ultimately mine, and mine alone.

I ask you today are you using the crayons the Creator gave you? Maybe, you are one of the people that are still stomping their foot, and throwing a tantrum about the colors you were given at birth. Let me assure you the colors in your box are not going to change. If you were not blessed with Fuchsia, periwinkle, or marigold that’s okay, you still have all the basic colors you need to paint a most beautiful picture if you will but allow yourself to do it.

Pledge to change your mind today; begin to open that box of crayons. Look at each of the colors: the colors of talent, the colors of gifts, the colors of possessions, the colors of friends ― all of your beautiful colors. Start today to begin coloring your life book with your own personal crayons. There is not another set of crayons on the planet exactly like yours. Yours are unique and special. Value them, cherish them and above all, today, thank the Creator for the special crayons he has chosen to trust you with. Now go out there today and color up a storm. Heck, you might want to go a little crazy and color outside the lines, after all it’s your picture book of life. Go out there and have an awesome, colorful day! See you tomorrow.

Why Life is Like A Catapult
Ok, it’s one of those analogies that I came up with in the shower yesterday morning. But I’m seriously chuffed with this one. Such that future clients, NLP4Kids practitioners and the companies I mentor are going to get “the catapult talk” if they start telling me that they are struggling…
