Lemon juice is a very powerful, very effective natural remedy for treating acne scars. It's an effective skin toner and skin lightener and many have gotten great results from it. Does lemon juice help acne scars? Yes, it can. Of course, it also depends on your skin and how often you apply it, but lemon juice has proven itself to very helpful indeed when it comes to treating particularly colored scarring. It's not as effective on bumpy scarring, but for colored scarring it's quite effective.
Now I did mention above that lemon juice is powerful. That's not a statement that you should take lightly! If you're considering using lemon juice on your skin always do a spot test. Somewhere under the neck, perhaps behind the hair line are good places to try. If you have sensitive skin, don't hide away from using lemon juice, but really do treat it with caution. If you like, you can dilute the lemon juice with some water if you find that it's too strong.
Apply the lemon juice to your face with a finger once a day if you come out okay after the spot test. Leave the juice on the skin for around ten minutes or so and then rinse it off well with warm water. You can finish the treatment afterwards with an essential oil such as rosehip or lavender oil. If you like to moisturize your face (it's recommended) you can do it after this. Use a natural moisturizer if you can, one that isn't laced with a whole lot of chemicals and other nasty ingredients.
How long until you see results? That's a little like asking the age-old question how long is a piece of string. Some people have seen great results after just a couple of days of the treatment. Others have seen results after a couple of weeks, and yet more have seen results after even longer periods of time. Sorry, I can't be more help here. The only way through is through, and the important thing is to keep up the consistency of your lemon juice treatments.
Remember the basics of using lemon juice: Lemons are great at removing colour from the skin. Use it on especially red acne scars. Always perform a spot test as lemons are powerful. You can water down the juice if it's too strong for you. And keep consistent with your treatments if you want to see results with your acne scarring. That's crucial.
I have been doing this for about a week now, using the lemon treatment that is, and have been extremely pleasantly surprised. I have very sensitive skin to chemical so I was surprised that the lemon juice, undiluted, did not make my skin red or raw, but it didnt. I have been putting fresh lemon juice on my skin daily for about ten to fifteen minutes, washing it off with spectro jel and putting on a little bit of rosehip oil. I have to say that the oil, so far, is alright, but the lemon juice was noticeable within days. I still have scars, obviously, but they seem to be getting smaller, lighter, and SIGNIFICANTLY less noticeable already. My fresh faced confidence has shot up almost one hundred percent since starting this. I still wear makeup to work etc. because I do still have scars and uneven skin tone, but it has been a week and I am already feeling liberated. Didn't beleive that it would work, now cant contain my excitement at the results. So used to disappointment in my skin care products/solutions, this never happens to me.
