The Best Remedy For Acne: 3 Tips To Try Today!

We’ve all experienced it…an unsightly zit springing up in the most visible of places on our faces at the worst of times. Sometimes it brings its big family along too and you find yourself with a red bumps all over your face. And they aint going nowhere!

The fight against acne begins as early as the teenage years for some of us and last well into our late thirties. Some of us can take comfort in that acne doesn’t spare even the rich and famous and rock stars like Britney Spears and Rihanna make our plight more bearable.

Then there are those of us who take the bull by the horns to take back our right to clear skin. Just because the rich and famous are prone to acne and zits just like us normal folks, it doesn’t mean we can’t do anything about it. Sometimes, the best remedy for acne is just as ordinary as us. So ordinary we can miss it!

I have had some good fortune with the following three tips that I’m gonna share with you. They are all good as remedies for acne maybe even better than all these lotions and potions that only clear the money out of your pocket! They won’t cost a fortune is the bottom line. What do you have to lose except a few pesky zits? Ready?

1. Clean teeth equals clear skin?!

This tip works best for a new, just-popped-out-on-to-the surface zits. Dot toothpaste on each zit before bed. Make sure the toothpaste dries and forms a crust on top of the zit which you wash off in the morning. Now remember to wash your face before you do this.

All topical applications to the skin work best on clean skin. The toothpaste therapy works to dry out zits- speed up what might take two weeks. You might need to do this for three nights.I found this out when I was in High School and had to deal with the regular pimple outbreaks. I found out that towards my period I would break out and the zits would clear up after my period- 10 to 14 days later. Two weeks to a teenager is a lifetime!

2. Drink your weight in water.

I know we hear about drinking water and its health benefits all over the place and if you don’t like the taste of water ( like me!) it’s a real challenge to start- and maintain. One thing we need to remember is that our bodies are 70% water and need water to keep our bodies going and balanced. The skin on our bodies is a major body organ. We tend not to think of the skin as an organ but it really does go beyond skin deep, with layers, blood vessels, capillaries-. It really is a living system and a big deal .Ask a Dermatologist why they had to go to graduate school! To determine your recommended daily water intake, divide your weight in pounds by 2. That is the number of ounces of water you need to drink to get your body and skin optimized to and in the best health. The example is if you weigh 150lbs, you need to drink 75 ounces of water.

If you use the metric system, divide your weight in kgs by 30 for the litres of water you need to drink. I weigh 70 kg so I need 2.3 litres a day. When you get into the habit of drinking water, you will notice the benefits. That means clear acne free skin. This alone might be the best acne remedy. Not only is it free and natural to drink water, it will do your whole body good.

3. The last tip might apply more to women than men even though both sexes are affected by acne. Biology tells us that women’s bodies are regulated by two hormones: estrogen and progesterone. These two are supposed to balance each other but sometimes wreak havoc and result in acne. If you use the contraceptive pill, opt for the brand with the lowest dose of hormones possible. This is especially true for those on the combined pill with both progesterone and estrogen. In my experience, the mini pill, with progesterone only has meant less break outs.
