You skin is your largest organ in (or on rather) the body, and as such should be the number one thing to take good care of. By working with and not against the skin not only will you look better you will feel better too.
There are 6 things you will want to avoid if you have acne, and even if you don’t have acne it is in your skins best interest to avoid them anyway. If you do have acne, these things can and will only make your condition worse so you will want to limit or eliminate them completely.
Number one thing to avoid if you have acne:
Smoking…
Not only is smoking bad for you, I know I have been one for over 10 years, but it does something to the blood that only makes curing acne an even slower process. When you smoke, your capillaries contract and the blood vessels to the skin deprive your skin of all the oxygen it needs for not only the creation of new cells but also the maintenance of healthy ones.
Number 2:
Steroids in topical form…
Anything over the counter is not great for you in the first place, but the use of a topical steroid will eventually thin your skin and could potentially worsen your acne. Likewise they are treating your acne in a superficial manner only really treating the symptoms and not the root cause, meaning you can keep using them if you want the little bit of result they might have to be definite.
Number 3:
Pills and antibiotics…
Medications such as Accutane, or tetracycline can be proven bad for your skin and agitate it very much. These types of medications have also been noticed to severely damage you internally and are not good for your overall health in general.
While they destroy the bacteria in your body, they also get rid of the good bacteria that your body needs, leaving you drained. Probiotic are good bacteria in our bodies and has qualities to promote good skin so without them you are destroying any real chance.
Number 4:
Avoid using a 4-5 blade razor…
If you shave and have acne you will want to stay away from these razors that claim they will get you the closest shave.
In many cases (mine personally) these will cause more irritation than a single bade razor. They have even been proven to damage the skin, these multi blade razors! No need to get all fancy here, if you have acne problems then aggravate it less with a single blade.
Number 5:
Picking and popping…
This should go without say, we all know this is bad to do. Tempting sure but none the less can make the condition worse by agitating it. The ones you cannot pop either will just be pushed even farther down in the skin and could easily become infected quickly.
Number 6:
Excessive Vitamin A intake…
Sure, Vitamin A can be one of those good home acne remedies to help regulate acne but it is not good for your body when it is overdosed.
More so you should get Vitamin A naturally by eating veggies that are green and leafy rather than popping a pill with a high IU content. Too much can cause damage to the liver and could experience a number of other side effects.
These are six practical tips to dealing with your acne and what you should avoid at all cost. By eliminating these things from your life, or changing them you can start to notice a difference in your acne. Even if you don’t have acne it is best for your overall health to stay away from the mentioned.
