Home remedies are always great things to try. They're very cheap (and a hang of a lot cheaper then a lot of the surgical options, or even the fancy acne scar fading creams), usually pretty easy to find around the house, and what's more - they often work very well. What are some home remedies for acne scars? This article lists a few of them, so I hope you'll find it helpful!
Lemons. This is one you may have heard of before. It's quite a popular home remedy because it does work rather well. If you have colored scars, scarring that's especially red then lemon juice is a very effective natural treatment. What is does is bleach the skin and this lightens the scarring. If you like, you can dilute the lemon juice, or add one of your favorite essential oils to it. Make sure you do a spot test first - lemons are powerful and some people have bad reactions to them.
Baking Soda. Another popular treatment, this one helps to exfoliate the skin, helping reduce future acne breakouts as well as reducing the appearance of scarring. To erase scars with it, just add a couple of teaspoons of the stuff to a literal drop of water, and massage the paste well into your skin. Try to perform this treatment once a day for the best results!
Oatmeal Face Mask. This is quite a nice one, although it does take some time to make it work, so it's a weekend job I think. Cook up some oatmeal, add some essential oils to it (if you like, lavender is quite good for the skin) and wait for it to cool to a reasonable temperature to put on your skin. Apply it over your face like a face mask. The heat and the moisture are very beneficial to your skin. Wait until the oatmeal forms a crust on your skin, and then wash it off well. You'll probably want to moisturize your skin after you're done as your skin might be quite dry.
These are just three acne scar home remedies you might like to try. There are actually heaps and heaps to choose from, and I urge you to seek a large number out. Removing acne scars is part art, part science so make sure you don't give up if the first thing you try doesn't work. Consistency, repetition and a willingness not to give up are the essential elements to a program that works!
