Coconut oil is good for acne treatment because it provides antimicrobial properties that could help lower acne bacterial count and restore the balance. Acne bacteria are actually good for us. But too much of them can cause inflammation and then lead to acne breakout. So, all we need to do is restore their balance. And coconut oil is good for that.
Another benefit of coconut oil on acne is that the tropical oil is highly detoxifying. When you have too much toxins accumulated inside your body and under your skin, breakout may take place. By eating the oil, you get to excrete toxins via increasing bowel movement. And by putting it on your skin, you get to purge toxins out of your skin.
Speaking of purging toxins out of your skin, this can cause more breakout reactions. But once you're clear of toxins, your acne will gradually heal. It's good to know that using coconut oil may take you through the process of healing crisis so you're mentally prepared and able to stick through the "trauma" without freaking out.
The detoxifying effect of coconut oil also eases the load of your liver so that your liver can effectively "turn off" androgens to prevent overproduction of sebum (skin oil) which is stimulated by the presence of excessive active androgens. This regulates your skin oil and hence, makes your skin less acne-prone.
Additionally, applying the tropical oil to your skin can also help to calm down the secretion of sebum since the oil carries fatty acids that are similar in characteristics to sebum. Because of that, our body responses by decreasing sebum production.
However, despite the fact that it's good for acne treatment, coconut oil can't cure your acne completely. Imagine you keep taking junk foods that continually "pour" toxins into your body while at the same time, you're taking the tropical oil as food and applying it to your skin, how effective do you think your acne treatment with coconut oil will turn out?
If you truly want to cure your acne for good, never dilute the acne-healing effect of coconut oil with a poor diet. But instead, enhance its effect by eating more greens and fruits, and other natural whole foods that benefit your skin. These plant-based foods can also help to expedite your acne healing and may lighten or even fade off the scars completely.
It's not easy to eat more plant-based foods particularly if you're a hardcore meat eater, but I'm sure your desire to get an acne-free skin will positively motivate you to make dramatic yet health-promoting changes to your diet.
