Why Natural Remedies Are Safer to Use Than Conventional Acne Medications

Many medications and surgical procedures are available in the market to address the great demand of pimple treatment. From the commonly used Benzoyl Peroxide to the more advanced cosmetic procedure of Dermabrasion, much has been the advancement of our technology in giving us options in solving acne problem.

However, despite the various claims of medications and surgical operations in treating acne with little or no harmful effects, much is risked in using these as a sort of cure for acne sufferers. For example, using Benzoyl Peroxide may cause redness and painful scaling (peeling) of the skin during the entire process of treatment, Hormone therapy can only be used in females because of the undesirable effects such as breast enlargement and loss of body hair if used in males, furthermore, in Dermabrasion where the skin is removed through the process of abrasion or “Sanding”, the person will experience excruciating pain during procedure and will require several months of recovery.

Making use of these sorts of medications and procedures is not at all bad in a sense, yet treatments such as these are only prescribed to individuals who have the specific need of these treatments. Each person has a specific need and has a unique reaction that is why consultation of a dermatologist is needed to avoid undesirable outcomes.

Hence, the use of traditional and natural remedies is of much use and benefit to the person suffering from acne, it can prevent as well as help reduce acne. Obviously, natural remedies are much safer, affordable and practical to use nonetheless effective in curing acne. As simple as getting enough sleep and rest can greatly affect acne growth because stress and sleep deprivation will cause the adrenal glands to produce more cortisol, a type of steroid, thus triggering the sebaceous gland to produce more oil.

Also, hygiene is and always has been a great determining factor. The popular belief that acne is caused by external debris clogging the pores is not entirely true, it is in fact the formation of keratin and oil plugs in pores that causes acne formation. That is why washing the face with warm water will open the pores; soften the keratin and oil plugs and washing it away. The application of heat to oil will soften it making it easier to wash away with water and soap.

Shampooing the hair will help in reducing the oil build up in your head, while avoiding hair products such as pomade and styling gel will greatly help in decreasing acne. A home-made face wash using apple cider vinegar is also very effective in decreasing acne; its acidity and antiseptic properties help deter the growth of bacteria.

Also, a person’s diet will greatly affect acne formation. Avoiding foods such as french fries, fried chicken, chocolate and certain milk products will greatly help acne alleviation. Having a healthy diet consists of eating the right food at the right amount at the right time. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables and enough clean drinking water is a great factor. Fruits and vegetables contain a lot of vitamins and minerals that will help maintain a clear skin, particularly vitamin A and B-complex.

Ultimately, a lifestyle change is necessary in implementing natural home remedies for acne treatment. The use of natural remedies is of much better use and benefit; they have the least or better yet, zero risks in its usage. So before harnessing the more complicated and risky acne treatments and various medications, consider first natural home remedies that may save you the money or any undesired physical pain.
