One common physical complaint is headache or cephalgia. It may indicate a stress response, skeletal muscle tension, migraine, or a combination of factors. Headaches can be classified into cluster headaches, migraine headaches, sinus headaches, and tension headaches. Cluster headaches are severe forms of headaches generally experienced by men.

The excruciating attacks can come once to eight times daily. The pain is accompanied with nasal congestion and watering of eyes lasting from 15 minutes to three hours. Tension headache or muscle contraction headache are caused by physical or emotional stress. People who suffer tension headache complain of feeling pressure starting in the forehead, temple, and the back of the neck.

Relief is usually obtained through massage, application of heat, muscle relaxant, and analgesics. Migraine is distinguished by continual and repeated attacks of severe headaches. It is more common in women and occurs often early in the morning. There are many types of medical management for headaches. Regular exercise and relaxation, avoiding the trigger factors, and avoid disruption of sleeping or meal patterns are few home-based care to manage the pain. It can also involve drugs, physical therapy, and, recently, acupuncture.

Acupuncture originated in Chinese traditional medicine. This ancient medical therapy was meant to correct imbalances in the flow energy. According to Chinese tradition, disruption of such flow of energy would result to pain and diseases. Acupuncture is believed to restore such balance to the body. Acupuncture for headaches is now a desirable option for those whose headaches become a hindrance to work and everyday life. It has been popular as an additional treatment for patients who have adverse reactions to prescribed or over-the-counter medications.

Thus, more and more people are now tempted by the no side-effect concept in acupuncture. Acupuncture for headaches would use needles, as you well know, for treatment. These needles are different in the sense that they are thinner than ordinary medical needles.

When such needles are strategically placed on specific body parts, they provide temporary relief after each session. The medical world has conflicting claims on the efficacy of acupuncture for headaches. However, their claims would no longer matter if you had tried the treatment for yourself. Human bodies are unique and treatments have different effects when applied to such bodies.

As with other treatments, one which does not work on others may work on you, vice versa. You should only know one thing. If your headaches are bothering you so much, it is your right to seek immediate relief from any method you feel comfortable enough.

If the treatment does not work, then you have the freedom to abandon it. If it works, then goodbye headaches. If you decide to try acupuncture for your headaches, then the next smart thing to do is look for a licensed and reputed acupuncturist. Headaches should not be taken for granted.

They have the ability to rob you of paid, productive hours once the pain strikes, sometimes, unexpectedly. Acupuncture for headaches is just one option you can try to get rid of such a simple problem that can cause so much trouble, whether financially or professionally.

Headaches don't have to be a regular part of your life. Acupuncture for Headaches is now a method of treatment that really works. Visit my site for more information about how Acupuncture for Headaches can help you get on with a normal life.
