Wasting time at the office is one of the most important thing that is hated by an employer and there are a lot of workers and professionals who simply wastes their time at the office by doing other odd things. Wasting time at the office clearly reduces the output of an employee and also causes serious loss to the company. It is fact that people should have their own good share of time, but should not over exploit it.
But some guys really over exploit the situation and there by damages the overall performance of his team. There are a lot of ways these employees are wasting time at the office and most of these can be avoided easily. Here I would like to mention the major ways through which the employees are seen wasting their time at the office.
1) Personal Mail Checking
In today's scenario, most of the employees in a company have access to internet and hence we can see a natural tendency of these employees using the internet for checking their personal mails. In the course of time, the employees’ exploits these advantages and spends a huge amount of time checking their personal mails and this is considered to be one of the major ways of time wasting at the office.
2) Social Media Participation
Since there are a lot of social networking sites present on the internet, a lot of employees have their presence on these social networking sites. At the office they try to connect with their online friends through these social networking sites and thereby waste a major portion of their work time at the office.
3) Browsing non work related websites
There are certain guys who go on browsing interesting websites at the office, which are not at all related to his or her work. Since the internet is so vast, the number of websites the employee browses do not have any limit. This will be a serious waste of work time and this will indeed turn out to post a negative overall job output.
4) Unwanted discussions
Unwanted discussions with co-workers are another way the employees waste time at the office. You need to talk and share talks with your colleagues, but over and excessive talks and discussion would be ruining not ones, but everybody’s valuable time at the office.
5) Wandering unnecessarily
Some guys have the habit of wandering around the office after lunch or tea and most of them exceed a particular time limit. This would also be wasting your company's time and you would also show delay in the delivery of your assigned tasks due to this.
These are just the basic things and there are many other ways employees are seen wasting time at the office. Some employees even make money online at office by using the company resources which is really a bad thing from the employee. Such activities really affect the performance and overall career growth of an employee and these days most of the companies conduct awareness classes against such activities. But such practices still goes on and on.
