Since I have been searching and researching different ways to stop smoking, I have settled on something that I think appeals to many smokers. Of course, I am talking about electronic cigarettes, or e cigs. I believe that they are a great alternative to smoking because I also believe they are much safer to use than regular tobacco cigarettes. To answer this question of how does an e cig work we will first look at the seperate components and then we will describe how they all come together and function.
Understandably, some folks are a little reluctant to try electronic cigarettes because they don't know much about them. They ask me, "How does an e cig work"? I would like to address this question the best that I can in this article.
E cigs, or electronic cigarettes, are really pretty simple little devices. They are basically comprised of just three parts. Namely, the battery, the atomizer, and the cartridge, or mouthpiece. Of these three components, the atomizer is the most complex, although even the atomizer is a simple device, and also it is the part that does most of the work.
Inside the atomizer is a small heating element. This heating element is powered by electricity which is supplied by the battery. When the user of the electronic cigarette draws on it, the heating element heats up the e-juice, or e-liquid as it is commonly referred to, and this causes it to vaporize into a fine mist. This mist is what the user of the e cig inhales and also what delivers the nicotine to him or her.
To continue our discussion of How Does an E cig Work, we will move onto the battery. It is usually rated at about 3.7 volts, which is what is required to heat up the element in the atomizer. Another thing that the battery has is a small pressure sensitive switch. This switch is turned on by the gentle drawing in of air through the mouthpiece by the user. As he draws air in through the device the battery kicks on, the atomizer heats up, and the e-liquid is vaporized.
The cartridge, or mouthpiece, is where the e-juice is stored. It supplies the atomizer with juice to be heated and vaporized and also allows the user to draw the vapor into his or her mouth to be inhaled. This is, basically, how an e cig works.
I hope the above information answers your question, "How does an ecig work?". There are slight variations in construction depending on the manufacturer, but this is the basics of all electronic cigarettes.
