As the title of this article suggests, there are things to help you stop smoking. But since the term "things" is a little ambiguous, let me be a little more specific.
Everyone is different. We all have different likes and dislikes. We were all raised different. Some of us have a set of values that are way different than others. Some of us respond differently to the same set of circumstances or stimuli. Anyone with children knows full well that they cannot treat all their children in exactly the same way because they are each individuals and have their own set of needs. That is exactly why there is no one method or strategy or system or thing that will enable all people everywhere to stop smoking cigarettes.
One of the things to help you stop smoking may be a faithful support system. I know it was for me. Without my family, most especially my grandchildren, I would have never gotten to the point where I could actually stop my smoking habit. I believe that it is very helpful to have this. But I know that not all of you have this luxury in place.
For some of you, it may be just the story of another person's struggle, and ultimate victory, over the addictive tobacco sticks. For another, it may be a nicotine replacement system like nicotine patches, or electronic cigarettes that do the trick. The goal you need to have for yourself, at the very beginning, is to find the way that works for you.
I personally used a combination of a couple of different methods in conjunction with my support system. That's what worked for me. You must find the way that works for you.
There are lots of things to help you stop smoking. Maybe it's transcendental meditation, or maybe hypnosis, or self hypnosis. Many people have used these to stop smoking. The thing that I always stress, and the thing that derails an awful lot of people who are trying to stop smoking is this: don't give up trying to quit just because the first thing you try doesn't work for you. I know some of you won't like that advice, but I have found that most people don't succeed with their first attempt to stop smoking. Stick with it. Find what works.
While you are doing your research on things to help you stop smoking please take into account your personality, your values, your core beliefs. Remember, everyone is different and there is no one cure all for everyone. I know, in the depth of my being, that if you will just hang in there and don't give up you will succeed. You will be able to say goodbye to cigarettes forever. You will thank yourself for it.
