What Kind Of Rehab Should I Choose to Overcome A Painkiller Addiction?

If you are struggling with a painkiller addiction and have been unable to get clean and sober then you might look into going to substance abuse treatment to get some help. There are a bunch of different treatment centers that you might attend and the most important thing is that you take immediate action and get into one as quickly as possible.

Why the sense of urgency because otherwise you will not go and continue to use prescription painkillers like percocet. It becomes so much easier to put things off and to stay stuck in active addiction, rather than to take decisive action and make a big change like this. It takes guts to go to rehab and change your whole life. If you have the impulse to do it all of a sudden then you should seize the opportunity and go make the best of it. Almost no one ever regrets going to rehab, but plenty of people regret not going.

Which rehab should you go to? It doesn't really matter. People cannot believe that because they intuitively know that there is a wide range of quality out there with almost every choice. For example, we have all been to good restaurants as well as bad restaurants. Shouldn't it be the same for treatment centers? Aren't there good ones and bad ones out there? Wouldn't some rehab facilities produce good success rates of recovery, while other, poorer facilities produce lousy success rates?

The truth is that no one has figured it out yet, and they all produce the same basic rate of success among recovering addicts and alcoholics. There are luxury treatment centers out there in which each resident has their own personal chef, and there are some treatment centers that are so run down and poor that they will have you cooking lunch while you are still in detox (slight exaggeration there, but you get the idea). But the amazing thing is that both of these rehab centers will produce about the same number of addicts and alcoholics that stay clean and sober.

This should point to a fundamental truth about recovery: I would have to say that when it comes down to it that it is up to the individual, and the fate of their sobriety rests squarely on their own shoulders so basically it is a personal choice and if you are suffering from percocet addiction you may want choose to go to an opiate rehab. It does not matter much which rehab center they attend, or even what the core philosophy of that treatment center is.

Almost all rehabs are abstinence based programs and that is good enough for most anyone who is truly wants to overcome a painkiller addiction and is willing to change. If they are not ready, then no rehab is going to be able to help them.

Good luck
