Ecuador is a country in South America, between Colombia and Peru. It’s a volcanic country as it has around 75 volcanoes active and inactive. In the surrender of the capital Quito there are six. The Archipelago Galapagos also belongs to the Ecuadorian Government and all the islands have origin volcanic. It’s one of the smallest countries in South America and the main language is Spanish. There is also a small part of the population they speak Quechua which is the language of the Indians.
It has three different kind of landscape:
1. Costa (Coast).
2. Sierra (Mountains).
3. Oriente(Amazonia).
In the Coast the temperature is always around the 20-30 degrees, even in the night it’s always warm.
In the Sierra it’s slightly different as the Andes Mountains in Ecuador are very high. For example in Quito who is at 2850 m above the sea level, during the day the temperature vary from 15-25 degrees during the day and during the night between 5-10 degrees. The highest mountain is the inactive volcano Chimborazo with 6310 m. Until the XIX, they thought it was the highest mountain in the world and today they consider it the nearest point to the Sun. You can see the Chimborazo when the sky is clear from Guayaquil which distances 452 kilometres from it. The second highest mountain is the active volcano Cotopaxi, 5897 m. In Quechua, the word Cotopaxi means the neck‘s moon. It situated south of Quito and from the city when the sky is clear you can see this beautiful mountain covered with perennial snow. The last eruption was in 1904 and there has been some activity since then. The third highest volcano is Cayambe 5790 m and is in the north of Quito. The British Edward Whimper accompanied by two Italians have been the first person to climb those three volcanoes.
Ecuador doesn’t have only volcanoes to visit, but definitely if you like mountain climbing, I would definitely recommend you to come here.
There is beautiful place two hours from Quito called Mindo, it’s a subtropical forest rich in biodiversity. You can find more than 500 types of birds and 90 types of butterflies.
You can also hear the concert of the frogs, during the night. Or why not visiting the Amazonia?
There is the Yasuni National Park,is the most biologically spot on the Earth.
You can visit the area via boat on the Rio Napo.
These are only some of the beauty who can find in Ecuador.
