It has been a couple of years since I had a holiday. You know the story. I think about it often, how much I would like to have a break and go on holidays, yet work keeps on getting in the way.
To tell you the truth, right now I feel divided. Not really sure where I should go to. To the mountains or the beach? Both really appeal.
I think a beach somewhere would be nice. As the thought of just doing nothing for a couple of weeks seems so appealing. Thoughts of a white sandy beach, a hammock and a good book really bring a glow to my mind.
Yet, I am also attracted to the mountains. The thought of spending some time bushwalking and just sightseeing also has appeal.
I think that part of the confusion is because I haven not decided to go on holiday. I would say that once I have made my decision perhaps clarity will follow as to the perfect place for my next holiday.
I have now decided.
So where should I go for my next well-deserved holiday?
When considering the beach scenario I realise there are so many choices. Shall I go budget or luxury?
If I decide to have a cheap holiday, immediately Bali, Hawaii, Phuket, Koh Samui, Kho Pi Pi or any of the other islands in Thailand come to mind. And, of course, the Gold Coast is always affordable.
Here as far as accommodation is concerned I can get value for my money. Obviously the expense of international travel is always a consideration.
However as time is scarce, perhaps I can be generous with myself this time and splurge a little and go for something a little more up market and luxurious, The Datai in Langkawi or Hayman Island in the Great Barrier Reef would give me the opportunity to truly indulge.
If I decide to have a mountain holiday there are many interesting places I can stay at, whether it be Lillianfels, or find myself a nice cabin at Jemby Rinjah. Also there is always the possibility of a lovely mountain cottage if I wish for something a little more isolated.
I have no doubt I would find the Blue Mountains refreshing and revitalising.
I am now wonder whether I could have both - the mountains and the sea? As I am having difficulty making up my mind as to the best choice, perhaps I can go for both. Then I alternate bushwalking with swimming.
The photo is of Hayman Island - one of my favourite spots for total relaxation
