Pity the small business owner. He/She is only running his business because he wanted more freedom, more independence. He/she had a vision in his mind of a lifestyle that did not include bosses, or corporate politics, or putting up with foolish nonsense normally associated with a regular 9 to 5. What he found was worse than he imagined it would be.
Consider a normal day for the small business owner. He/she is the first person in the building every morning, and the last person out the door each night. In between those times, he is bombarded with problems ranging from personnel disputes, to customer complaints.
He has to deal with scheduling conflicts, and ordering supplies. He has to check inventory, fill in for absent employees, do the banking, and keep track of financials and insurance. His day never seems to have enough hours.
The buck stops with him for hiring and firing, for employee theft, and licensing issues. He finds he works harder tha he ever worked before in his life, and seems to have less to show for it at the end of the week. He is faced with a never-ending string of employees that range in age from teen-agers and their lack of responsibilty, all the way up to matured workers and their sense of entitlement.
Somehow, in this insane nightmare, he is confronted with the hassles of phone calls, business meetings, salemen, suppliers, and advertising. He wants to grow his business, but their never seems to be enough time to do the things he should do to make that happen.
At the end of the day, he crawls into his house and tries to figure out a way of finding more customers, or find ways to get his existing customers to spend more money, but ultimately, the time at home contimplating these issues is often put on the back burner so he can spend time with his family. Before he knows it, it is time to go to bed so he can start all over tomorrow.
So what is the solution? Every business owner knows that their are only 3 ways to succeed in business.
- Get more customers
- Get your existing customers to come back more often
- Get your existing customers to spend more money.
None of these will occur without some form of advertising. A small business owner can never stop advertising if he wants to succeed. Especially in this day and age where his customers can go online and get anything they want, including the items he offers.
Local search has leveled the playing field for local, small business owners. It allows them to compete with the big chains to dominate their local market, but the business owner may have a hard time breaking into this field due to the learning curve. That is where I come in. I can help. For more info, visit my site.
