According to the most recent data 65% of married men cheat on their wives. As only half of all marriages end in divorce, it would seem that either there are a lot of forgiving wives out there, or else there are a lot of wives out there who are unaware that their husband is cheating. Do you have a "weird" feeling recently that not all is right in your marriage? What's the top sign of men who cheat that you should be aware of?
Some of the "classic" signs of a cheating husband are still the same that they were 20 or 30 years ago. One is the excuse that your husband needs to "work late" or put in some extra hours. If your husband is an hourly employee, go check his pay stub. If your husband is a salaried worker it can be trickier to see if he really is at work, especially if he asks you not to call him while working. One way to check on this is to check the odometer on his car. If when your husband claims to be working late his odometer shows more miles than were needed for his daily commute, you have reason to be suspicious.
However, modern technology has made it a lot easier to carry on extra marital relationships. Texting, cell phones, e-mails, social networking sites, instant messaging - all of these make it easier to keep in touch with your lover, but also make it easier to get caught, if you are not careful. So one of the top signs that you husband may be cheating is if he has changed his cell phone and computer habits.
For example, did your husband used to leave his cell phone on the counter when he came home? Most men do. If his cell phone never leaves his side or if he rarely answers calls within earshot of you, this could be a major warning sign. Most men are smart enough not to leave a trail of incriminating phone calls or texts in their phone. But if when you finally get to check his phone (when he's in the shower is your best bet) if the call history and all of the texts are always erased, then you have reason to be nervous. You can check his contacts. Most men will be smart enough to have an unfamiliar ladies name in their contacts. But are there a suspiciously large number of calls to someone who looks legitimate (for example, maybe John is your husband's fishing buddy. But he has "John work", "John home", "John cell" all listed)? Maybe one of those numbers is a cover for something else.
What about your husband's computer habits? Does he spend way more time on the computer than he used to? Does he only use "private browsing" sessions? Does he quickly close the browser when someone walks up behind him and is the browsing history frequently cleared? These are all signs that your husband has something to hide.
Now be aware that not all of these signs are certain evidence of infidelity in marriage. These can also be classic signs of some sort of addiction or other serious personal problem. How can you know for sure?
The easiest way to start gathering evidence is to check any suspicious looking cell phone calls. That's one way to get an immediate answer. There are lots of recources available to help you trace a phone number you don't recognize. When you are armed with evidence you will be in a better position to approach your husband without sounding irrational and hysterical.
Are you missing the other top signs that your husband is cheating? Recent changes in his grooming, personal habits, spending patterns and his level of emotional and physical intimacy with you are also classic signs that your husband is cheating. But tracking his use of technology is a tangible way to start researching your suspicions.
