Finding out your husband is having an affair can make you wonder, "why is he cheating on you?"

The answer can either lead to divorce or sessions with a marriage counselor. Not all cheating husbands are driven by sex and cheating just for sport. It goes deeper than that and would benefit the betrayed spouse (You) as well as the cheating spouse (your husband) to find out.

To get to discovery of why your husband cheated on you, trying a process of coping, healing and moving on either together or separately can help. This is a process referred to by some marriage counselors as Surviving an Affair. It is something you should look into right after finding out about your husband's affair.

You Just Found Out About Your Husbands Affair!

It is normal to feel lost and abandoned after finding out your husband is having or had an affair. Examples of the queries you may have are, "Why is he cheating on me?" or "Isn't our marriage important to him anymore?" and the most painful question, "Doesn't he love me anymore?"

One of the reasons he could be cheating is he wasn't getting some of his needs met in the marriage. He may be feeling neglected or taken for granted and not able to express himself (as is the case with a lot of men).

A sympathetic ear outside the marriage and he may develop an emotional affair with someone. In a lot of cases that is as far as it goes but it can move to a more physical affair, even sexual.

Is he cheating to get revenge? Of course not! He may just have a hard time expressing himself to you. He can't discuss his problems within the marriage. The emotional dissatisfaction and neglect has distanced him from you and made him feel the only way to get this emotional satisfaction is to go outside the marriage.

He may not even know he is in an emotional affair at first but once he does is when he stops the affair and tells you.

The only problem you may have is being the betrayed spouse comes with unfairness. This unfairness is why you are angry at your husband. It is why you feel jealousy wondering what the other woman has that makes your husband so attracted to her ways. You also start imagining the mental pictures of them together. All these things working together make it hard for you to have any bearing on what to do next.

The Next Thing To Do

Learning to cope with the affair should come next. It is the first part of what was said earlier about coping, healing, and moving on:

* You will be able to learn to cope with the affair and the turmoil the affair caused. You will also work on getting through the days and doing those mundane tasks like taking care of the kids, paying the bills and doing your job at work. * This all will allow you to regain your self-respect and confidence to address all those questions like, "Why is he cheating on me". You will also be able to ask other questions and use this time to listen without arguing or looking for answers. It will help you heal to be able to talk calmly about those things that used to upset you. * Finally you can use all you learned to make a better decisions about moving on. Finally you will be able to work on the marriage and what to do if marriage isn't really the right thing. You will be able to use what you learned to create an environment that encourages fidelity and happiness whether you stay with your husband or move on to other relationships.

Conclusion

Finding out your spouse cheated on you is a difficult time like a hurricane except an affair is intentional. If you follow a process of coping, healing, and moving on you will be able to get past a lot of roadblocks that otherwise keeps you from moving on in a healthy way. Never again should you have to wonder, "Why is he cheating on me?"
