I have been an affiliate marketer since 2008 and I made these mistakes before I started seeing some earnings coming my way. If you are new, you will do well to avoid these costly mistakes new affiliate marketers make.
Who To Or Not To Listen To
There are hundreds of online gurus who claim they can have you making money with a few clicks of the mouse within a week. Not all can be trusted. You need to do your research carefully and pick who you are going to listen to. Remember, you are opening your mind for success. You can or will, run into the occasional scammer who is not interested in your success at all, just your money. So take your time and search out who are the best internet marketing coaches to work with.
Your Mindset
Treat your affiliate marketing as a business if you seriously want to earn money. If you treat it like a hobby, well, that simply won’t be enough. Treat it like you would an offline business. It may involve your hobbies but I have found that treating affiliate marketing as a business certainly helped to boost my earnings.
Beware The Hype
We have seen them all, posh cars, houses, cruise ships plus promises of $1,000/day with a few mouse clicks. Remember, these are marketers and they will go to great lengths to get you to purchase their product. What I have noticed is that most of the times, the fake ones are not willing to stay with you to give you their support. Beware of those promises, usually they are just tapping into your need…and greed.
More Work?
Probably 80% sales pages out there tell you that you don’t have to work at your marketing. They know that the majority of surfers are lazy. Whatever strategy you will use will involve work. That’s no typo. Say it with me, “It will involve work.” If you are no willing to accept that, then you will be spinning your tires for a very long time.
Lock On Target
The majority of internet marketing gurus are guilty of getting you onto their email list and then they bombard you with offer after offer for you to buy. You have to evaluate the offers and see if they are going to help you in your business objective. If is not going to help you, don’t buy it. Focus on your business.
So there you have the costly mistakes I made as a new affiliate marketer. It took me close to two years to figure these out. It was painful and totally unnecessary. Do yourself a favour if you are new to affiliate marketing and start well.
