The internet is huge. Compared to 1995 when there were aprox. 15,000 domains registered, today there are about 350 million registered domains. No one knows exactly how many websites are on the web right now (not all domains are being used) but the fact is the internet continues to grow and web pages are created every day (thousands and thousands). Many people have learned how to build a web page with all of the help that is available online. It has become easier than ever to do this. Here are some tips to help you get started in learning how to build a web page.
How to build a web page tip #1 Do your keyword researchâ¨
Most websites don't take this factor into consideration and therefore have less visibility than they could have because of a lack keyword research.
So what exactly is keyword research? Every day people perform searches in Google, Yahoo, Bing and other search engines. These search engines try to give the best result of what the user is looking for. There are paid tools but you can also access a free tool that Google provides (just do a search on google's keyword tool).
Once you have decided what your site is about, you want to find keywords (single or usually phrases of three or four words) that have a enough search volume (ie how many people search for that phrase each month but have lower competition. So I look for words that have at least a thousand or so searches per month and have less than five hundred competing web pages for it (I use a keyword tool at the same place that I get my hosting and training).
Once you have a few options you want to save these words or phrases (either way they are called keywords) so that you can check for what is available as a domain name.
How to build a web page tip #2 Purchase the right domain name
With your list of possible keywords go to a place like Godaddy or name cheap and check to see what is available. Usually you can buy a domain name for a whole year for around ten dollars. I would go for a domain name that has a .com ending but if not you can't then get one with a .org or a .net ending. I would stick to one of these options (it seems to be better for your page's visibility with the search engines). If nothing is available you can always add a letter or a word at the end or at the beginning. (ie. warcraftguide is not available then try bestwarcratguide)
How to build a web page tip# 3 Install wordpress
Once you have purchased the domain name you will need to get hosting. This usually costs around seven to eight dollars a month. I use Wealthy Affiliate's hosting and I pay for everything in one monthly payment that includes not only hosting but training, webinars, forums with top internet marketers, wordpress express which allows you to install wordpress very quickly (less than two minutes), keyword tool (that has some additional features that the free version doesn't) and a bunch of other stuff. It all depends what you want you web page for. There are several good hosting plans with blue host, just host, hostgator, etc.
Once you have your hosting account, you can then install wordpress which is very simple and you are ready to started adding content to your new site. I hope this article on how to build a web page has helped you get started. Feel free to ask any questions or add comments below.
