When you are starting a new campaign, or building a new website, it is important to find your niche in the market. Trying to be all things to all people is a futile plan, the key is to specialize. The more focused you are, the more traffic and potential sales you will get, the following five pointers will help you to achieve this successfully.
Find your niche:
Don't just look online, remember a niche can be found anywhere. The TV infomercials that air late at night, your local shopping mall, junk mail that you get, just keep your eyes open. Maybe you recently bought a product that solved a problem for you. A product you own or use will be a lot easier to write content for, and you are going to be writing a lot of content, both for traffic and your site.
Evaluate your competition:
Once you have a list of niche ideas perform a Google search online using your research as your search term, and with the term in quotes. For example a niche I recently found was "big dog beds." Searching this phrase gives you about 13,200 results, this looks good because anything under about 70,000 will give you a good chance of being on page one.
Evaluate its potential:
Next step is to see what demand there is for the niche. You can do this by taking your keyword and put it into the Google external keyword tool, ( https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal.) This tool will show ou search volume as well as alternative related keywords. Doing this for our example tells us that there were over 2400 global monthly searches. This is a fairly good search level, as anything over about 1500 is a decent result.
Get your website:
The next step is to build your website or landing page. The most important thing to consider is that your keyword MUST be in your domain. You can buy your own domain, that is keyphrase.com or other extension like org or net, or you can build a Blogger blog or a Squidoo lens if funds are tight or you just want to test the water.
Write your content:
All that remains to do now is write the content for your landing page. The only thing to watch for is not to be too over promotional. You job is not to sell it is to pre-sell, the best way to do this is to write a review of the product, or other information that is emotional rather than a sales pitch. Maybe in our example above you have a big dog and found this great bed to help him to be comfortable when he slept.
Once you have your landing page it is now time to send some traffic to it, and start building your affiliate commission. Finding and then targeting your niche in the market successfully will help you to plan and execute a profitable campaign. The more focused you are the more your efforts will be rewarded .
