When you are in college or university finding part time jobs for students can be quite a difficult task. Employers generally don’t take too highly to college students as they are cautious about what your availability will be like, especially during your exam period.
Part time students just like any other people in society need some kind of way to earn some income. By having the ability to work a couple of hours here and there you are essentially given the opportunity to be able to enjoy your life while at school and still commit yourself to your studies as needed.
So what is the best alternative for you as a part time student? There are a few options for you. I would like to list these out and help you make the choice as to which one would be most suitable in your specific situation.
Option 1 – Promote others products or services
Start earning money online by selling other companies products. This is referred to as affiliate marketing.
Essentially the way this works is you register to an Affiliate Network such as Clickbank, Commission Junction or even the Amazon Associates program, just to name a few. Once you have submitted your application and it has been approved, you can begin to promote the company’s products.
Every time you make a referral to one of these companies and the visitor buys the product you earn a commission. Commissions generally range anywhere from 4% to almost 80% depending on the network you are affiliated too. For example, if you are promoting a product that sells for $200 and the referral fee is 10%, then you will be making $20 for every sale you make.
One of the greatest benefits to this option is that you do not need to be by anyone’s schedule aside from your own. Not only that, but if you connect with your audience then you can effectively be making continuous sales without having to do any extra work to your promotion.
Option 2 – Become a Virtual Assistant
This is pretty much as it sounds. Some of the tasks can be as simple as sorting through e-mails, data entry, creating documents and many more. Even though these tasks sound simple, it’s important you remember that it can become quite monotonous. In addition, the earnings aren’t as high or as lucrative when compared to those of affiliate marketing.
Option 3 – Take surveys
Surveys are a great way to make a couple of extra dollars here and there. They can completed through many websites that pay people, just like you, to complete product specific survey information.
These kind of programs are a good idea for making some money simply through your computer. The downside though is that you can spend a lot of time for very little reward. Some surveys can take up to 30 minutes to an hour to complete, and the payout is just a couple of dollars.
Trying to look for a part time jobs while you are a student does not need to be a stressful process.
You can definitely do something about this - so why not start by thinking outside the box. You don’t need to go and necessarily work at a McDonald's for $5 an hour and be told what to do or how to do it. Working online is definitely a fantastic opportunity for you. The above 3 options are just the start of what is possible.
