On April 10, 2012, Rick Santorum suspended his campaign for President of the United States. He says it was one of the hardest decisions for both himself and his wife, Karen to make. Rick Santorum's goal was to fight for struggling families, the unborn, and increasing hope in the American Dream.
Richard Santorum thanked his followers for volunteering, donating to his campaign, and supporting him. He said his campaign started within his own house with a small group of family and friends.
Many times, he said he had a dream to protect the American dream so that it would remain a land of opportunity that the founding fathers work so hard to obtain. He believes we must continue to sacrifice today.
Santorum says he has no regrets about the way he campaigned. His goal was to fight fair, discuss the important issues, and not attack others' characters. He said he wanted to fight for our country's greatness. Greatness doesn't come easily, it takes work.
He wanted to stand up and discuss the controversial issues that others would rather have ignored. His goal was to provide a one-of-a-kind voice and to bring up the topics our country needed to hear.
Over a hundred thousand people supported his campaign financially in order to make sure that President Barak Obama did not have another four years in the White House. The average donation was $73.10. Still, his campaign is running a deficit. He asks that people donate whatever they can toward that deficit. Santorum also plans to continue the fight to move Obama out of the White House. Funds would be used for that, too.
He won 11 key states in caucus and primaries. In a letter to the Republicans, he reminded them that in 1994, he ran for Senate in Pennsylvania. He defeated the incumbent Democrat Senator after he asked the people of Pennsylvania to join the fight. The people rose to the occasion then, and he expects people to rise to this occasion, too.
This author was not for nor against Rick Santorum. Yet, this news has piqued her interest, increasing curiosity how the republicans' campaigns will be effected by this news. How will this effect the presidential election in November? In what capacity will Rick Santorum keep fighting to oust Obama from the office of President?
While we wait and see how things will settle in the weeks and months ahead in the wake of this news, he asks all Republicans to pray for him. In return, he plans to pray for Republicans.
Rebecca, Hmm. Interesting comments on his resigning from the race. blessings, Cynthia
Cynthia, Politics always brings out the interesting comments, right? Thanks for the comment :) Have a blessed day!
Well it certainly brings out comments. Don't know that they're usually interesting!!
I like that everyone that commented made clean, friendly comments, rather than hateful. I've seen some political articles that received some very ugly comments on other sites.
Oh! I was kind of thinking about politics in the whole-real-world, not specifically comments here.
Thanks for clarifying. I didn't realize I misinterpreted what you were saying.
And I didn't realize I was being unclear:-) Was musing and writing...
I enjoyed the article Rebecca. I like Rick but I was ready for the bickering to be over. Hopefully he will work to help Romney defeat Obama,
I agree with you, I do not like the bickering. I have to keep the TV and radio off so my kids don't have to listen to them smear each other. Can't wait til the race is over so we know who won and the ads disappear. Thanks for commenting :)
As an outsider I have to assume this guy would have been good for America which would be good for us. I am afraid I am not the best person on judging others that I don't know, but I am assuming that there are other good people also standing for President?
The other major contender for the conservative Republicans is Mitt Romney. He is actually considered moderate and helped develop a state-wide health care plan in his home state that happens to be similar to Obama's national health care plan.. I'm not sure how good Romney will be, especially since I do not trust or put much stock in politicians in general. So, I cannot answer your questions since any answer I would give you would probably be relative rather than absolute. Thank you for your questions.
Politics these days is so difficult to follow, they all seem to say one thing before election and then do the opposite when elected.
Rob, I agree, the people seem to say one thing, and then do the opposite. You hit that one on the nail. It's one of the main reasons I am not sure who to stand by.
