Where Has Our Humanity Gone?

I am a democrat and a liberal. I believe in humanity. I believe in decency to our fellow man/woman. I believe there is room in the world for all of us. I am dismayed by the inhumanity to man/woman I see around me. I cannot believe the hypocrisy that roils in the name of God and Christianity. The world has always been slanted at the American stereotype of a White Anglo Saxon Protestant in Good Health. But it has never been outright in style to be uncaring about 1.anyone but yourself (I hear people say at work about taxes, "I want my money in my pocket thank you.") Ouch! What happened to sharing?

2. Anyone that doesn't look or think like you.(any different color of skin, someone who may love the same sex, anyone that looks muslim, etc) If more people would just mind their own business and not worry about everyone else's business, we wouldn't have these problems. (sounds easy to me)

3. Fear Mongering that has become a national pastime for a right wing political party who shall remain nameless. Shame on them. Don't they have anything better to do then frighten people out of their wits? Or is it a way to control the masses?

It has become trendy to muddle the government with man made Christianity. (I do not believe God would claim such a religion that regularly claims to know WWGD{what would God do}) Nor do I believe that God wants to run the world of Politics and the World. That is why he showed man the sense to make the law about religion and politics not getting mixed up with each other. The God I believe in wouldn't want to become a slogan on a political poster. Or the name in which inhumane acts are committed, whether they are calling people names, basing laws on man made morality or shooting them for being different.

One other little bit of hypocrisy is that all the people who are old, sick or not able to work are supposed to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. It doesn't matter that they, not a one of them, have bootstraps. But if those same people who are quoting the "bootstraps" line need some kind of government help, they think they "deserve" it, while the rest do not. I hope that someone who has more power will someday look into the corruption the lobbyists cause. How uncaring that people become when they worship the almighty dollar.

We cannot all be white, well off, in good health or young. I think it is time for the people who keep cutting the budgets for entitlements and human services to get over themselves and start cutting the sacred cows. Like the military and the well to do. The world is in a bad place. We need to work together. Not work for ourselves. That is the spirit of America. Not the perpetual Mr Scrooges who have taken over the government.

Street Talk

I agree with you. However the answer to you question is rather simple. You ought to sit down though when I tell it to you. It's simply GREED, GREED, GREED. Take away the money, power, fame and fortune and we would not have this problem. BUT, GREED GREED GREED, rules our country and the world. Stephen

But it really truly shouldn't. Greed is simply not acceptable as a Political Party or the "servants" we have voted in to keep this country in better shape then they found it. And the voters are Greedy. But they have nothing to be Greedy over. So what's that about? We should all sit down when we think about that.
