Allergies can take a toll on people of all ages. Itchy eyes, blotchy skin, watery eyes, sneezing, headaches and many other symptoms can make your life a royal pain. I am here to let you know that there are numerous methods of aromatherapy that when used, will alleviate the symptoms and get you back to feeling like yourself again. Essential oil allergy relief will be my focus , as I have used and recommended many essential oils for allergy relief.
1) Lavender Essential Oil. If you aren't familiar with aromatherapy, Lavender is at the top of the favorites list due to it's ability to alleviate a barrage of health issues. When it comes to allergies, Lavender is at the tops of the list. It is a natural antihistamine, therefore releiving one of the most annoying symptoms. Lavender can be applied neat (place 1-3 drops in your hand, rud your hands together and apply to the area needed) to your temples, forehead and cheeks. Within minutes you will notice your nasal passages clearing and your watery eyes subsiding.
2) Peppermint Essential Oil: Peppermint is one of my favorites. It is a natural pain reliever, so I am using it almost every day on aches and pains. Peppermint is also a powerful decongestant, again apply it neat and you will be amazed at hos fast your passages clear. Along with clearing out your airways, Peppermint will rid you of coughing and headaches. All of this from one essential oil!!
3) Eucalyptus Essential Oil: Another one of my favorites! Eucalyptus works wonders on respiratory, viral and sinus infections. Apply it neat to your temples, forehead and cheeks like the other essential oils. Eucalyptus will better your breathing and reduce inflammation.
4) Myrtle Essential Oil: Myrtle will help the respiratory system aiding in decongestion.
5) Lemon Essential Oil: Lemon has an antibacterial agent which makes it well suited to fight inflammation.
All of these essential oils will aid in alleviating the effects of allergies. There are also a number of essential oil blends that when used will give you overall relief. Here is one blend that can be used in many different ways:
~ 2 drops each of Lavender, Peppermint and Lemon Essential Oils
You can apply the blend neat to the desired areas. Also, this blend can be added to a warm bath, placed on a tissue and inhaled or placed in a diffuser. There are so many ways to get the benefits from essential oils, you just need to try a few and find out what works best for your needs.
I hope that this will give you good start in reducing your allergy symptoms. I speak from personal experience when I say that without these essential oils, I would be pumping my family full of medication when allergies strike. Give essential oils a try, I believe you will not be disappointed.
Many Thanks~
Lindsey
