A More Holistic Approach To Health

Some More Natural Methods...

Over recent years more and more people have become interested in taking a more natural approach to their health. Alternative, or complimentary therapies and medications are increasingly popular as people realise that by treating the whole person, rather than just the symptoms, you can actually get to the root cause of the illness or ailment. There are many therapies available today which promote this kind of well being. Many of these therapies have been around for thousands of years.

Acupuncture is a type of natural therapy or medicine. Acupuncture has been practised in the East for many thousands of years. It's purpose around five thousand years ago was to prolong life. The idea behind many alternative or complimentary medical techniques is to prevent illness by keeping the mind, body and spirit well balanced and working together in harmony for optimum health. Acupuncture stimulates the nerves inside the body which then promotes healing from within and this positively affects all bodily systems.

Reflexology is another holistic health method. This technique requires applying pressure to certain points on the hands and the feet in order to send nerve messages to other parts of the body. Reflexologists believe that certain points on our hands and feet correspond to certain areas or organs within the body and by massaging these points will send positive messages to the affected area or organ inside the body.

Aromatherapy is a delightful way to transformation your life. By using essential oils a person can achieve delightful therapeutic results. Aromatherapy has been a very popular alternative or complimentary health method for many thousands of years. For a couple of examples... to help combat a headache, put a few drops of Rosemary oil on a cotton ball and dab the cotton wall on your forehead, place a drop of lavender oil on a light bulb, or a few drops on a cotton ball placed on a warm radiator in your bedroom will help aid relaxation to help you sleep. Dab one drop of lavender oil on an insect bite to stop it from itching. I love aromatherapy because it’s something that most of us can do at home. There are many good books and starter kits you can buy so why not give it a go yourself?

Biofeedback is a great treatment for athletes who may be suffering from muscle problems. A biofeedback therapist will monitor the body to see how it reacts to normal daily activities in order to discover whether the body is performing optimally or where they may be a problem. During this treatment the patient will wear a monitor that records how the body is reacting and if the muscles are resting between activities.

Reiki is the art of healing and it uses the body’s energy to begin and then further the healing process. It is achieved by using the hands to follow a precise pattern of massage in order to encourage energy movement all through the body. Many Reiki healers are specially trained in order to perform this healing massage. There are classes which can teach you how to become a proficient Reiki healer, so why not explore the possibility of this fine healing art?

If any of these methods have given you food for thought, why not explore them further for a more natural and holistic approach to health for you and your family?
