These problems can be contributed to the mental stress that we are subject to. One such form of medicine is Ayurveda and this article discusses the Hindu origins of Ayurveda, the major principles used and how it is used to treat ailments.
Ayurveda - The Science of Life:
Ayurveda is a 5,000 year old Hindu tradition that literally means ‘the science of life’. It focuses on bringing in conjunction the mind, body and the spirit in order to promote mental and physical health and well-being. In ancient Hindu scriptures, the way of Ayurveda has been recorded in great detail and to this day it is being practiced around the world, although in a much modern sense. Originally Ayurveda is a medical science that was passed on from the Gods for wise people to then healers and finally, the common man. The story goes that Dhanvatri descended upon the Earth as the ruler of Varansi and bestowed this celestial knowledge amongst human healers and physicians. This science claims that a balance must be struck between the three ‘Doshas’ and an imbalance is what leads to physical and mental illnesses.
Basis Components and Principles:
There are eight basic components that constitute this science; these components are very much like the specialties that are associated with modern Allopathic medicine. They include general medicine, pediatrics, surgical techniques (based on extraction), the treatment of illnesses related to the ear, nose and throat area, releasing or pacifying spirits that have been negatively affecting the body, toxicology, treatment that focuses on improving domains like lifespan, intellect and strength and lastly, the eight components are increasing the ability for sexual viability and pleasure.
The major principle that governs this field of alternate medicine is balance. All your ‘Doshas’ must be in balance in order for you to remain healthy. Other principles include not suppressing your urges as it leads to illnesses and also exercising urges in a balance so they do not overpower you.
Treatment:
Ayurveda mainly uses herbs to treat illnesses. Herbs are known to have medicinal properties that are natural and also free of toxins. Some plants are used in unusual ways, such as opium, which is used not for its pain alleviating or pain killing properties but to heighten other senses. Opium is used for treating bowel related problems, increasing sexual and muscular function and in illnesses that affect the brain power. Alcohol is used in treatment as well by classifying it in levels of fermentation and raw materials. Modern Ayurveda, however mostly focuses on massage therapy and mental well-being in conjunction with physical well-being; Ayurveda Dubai is a common practice.
Ayurveda and Massage Therapy:
Modern day Ayurveda uses various forms of massage to treat the mind, body and spirit together. There are professional qualified Ayurvedic individuals who run these places all over the world that aim to provide the best healthcare in terms of alternate medicine. Even though it is considered a pseudoscience, it is used by 80 per cent of the population in India. Ayurveda in Dubai is also not an uncommon sight, considering the opposition it faces. This alternate form of treatment is being used since it is closer to nature and the laws concerning the human body are written down in ancient texts that can be utilized even today.
