Coconut Oil Uses

There are many uses of organic coconut oil mainly because of all the anti-properties it has: anti-viral, anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory. You will be very surprised to learn all the ways to use coconut oil every day. It can be used either internally, externally, or both. I prefer both because I love the way it makes feel on the inside and look on the outside.

I will start with personal care. You can use organic coconut oil as an effective moisturizer from head to toe, an eye cream to help fight wrinkles, bags, and puffy eyes, and as an effective deodorant. I have tried mixing it with baking soda and applying under the arms as a deodorant, and this works great for me. Also, I put some on my toothbrush with some toothpaste and it is very effective in cleaning the mouth, eliminating bad breath, and preventing cavities.

Some other coconut oil uses for personal care are: soften the lips, apply to the ends for an effective hair conditioner, use before and after you shave, as a safe personal lubricant and massage oil. Personal organic coconut uses also include relieving skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis, and acne, heals cuts and scrapes, stops the itching from bug bites, and as an excellent body scrub when mixed with sugar and applied to the body, then rinsed off.

For mommies and babies, it can be applied to the nipples during breastfeeding to help nourish dry, cracked nipples between feedings. It can be applied to help soothe baby's diaper rash and when applied daily to baby's dry scalp, will help eliminate cradle cap. Breastfeeding moms can consume up to 3 1/2 tablespoons daily to help enrich the milk supply. It will help the body to absorb vitamins and minerals.

For general health and wellness, organic coconut oil is great for digestion. It will protect against bacteria and parasites that are the cause of many digestive problems including irritable bowel syndrome and ulcers. It will stimulate the metabolism, give you lots of energy, improve thyroid function, and help the body reduce fat while increasing muscle. In this way, it will help with weight reduction and cravings control.

When taken internally, it will help level out blood sugar levels, making it great for those with diabetes. It will also help with hot flashes, hemorrhoids, painful periods, HIV, gallbladder pain, Alzheimer's Disease, kills head lice, mononucleosis, thrush, acid reflux, underactive thyroid, symptoms of asthma, candida, autism, high cholesterol, and chronic fatigue.

When applied topically, organic coconut oil uses include treatment for athlete's foot, sore muscles, acne, cellulite, herpes simplex, genital warts, and canker sores. It's just amazing to think that something found in nature is good for so many things. I consume organic coconut oil every day, so I know it works. I have gone through this winter without catching any bugs (and this is a first)!!

It's really easy to add organic coconut oil to your everyday life. You can add it to your coffee (what I do) each morning, use it in place of butter or other oils in recipes, for baking, cooking, sauteing, greasing pans, pie crusts, or add to smoothies or tea. It's even safe to give to your pets and will be just as good for them as it is for you. There's just so many uses for coconut oil!!
