Dr. Oz's segment of his show about three of the many benefits of organic coconut oil: weight loss, skin conditions, and ulcers. He asks the question, "Is coconut oil really a miracle food?" He moves on to explain how for thousands of years, the coconut and its oil have been used to heal. This tropical oil has been used not only for cooking and eating, but for healing and improved skin health. Science is finally catching up on all the powers of organic coconut oil.
When Dr. Oz comes across a food with medicinal powers, he likes to share it. He explains how coconut oil got a bad reputation in the past mainly because it is a saturated fat and is in solid form at room temperature. However, when heated or in temperatures above 76 degrees, it turns to liquid. In his comparison of coconut oil to olive oil, they both contain the exact same calories and amount of fat, so there is no comparison there. He moves on to explain the differences as to why coconut oil is so good for us.
He pulls an assistant from the audience and moves forward with a demonstration. Here he is showing the difference between medium chain fatty acid (found in organic coconut oil) and long chain fatty acids (found in other oils). You see, most oils and fats contain these long chain fatty acids, which are not good for you. These are not absorbed by the blood nor are they easily digested. This is how the coconut oil gets its healing properties, through these medium chain fatty acids.
Organic coconut oil contains medium chain fatty acids which are easily digested in the body, absorbed in the blood, and easily converted to energy, not fat. Dr. Oz explains that the long chain fatty acids can actually make you fat while the medium chain fatty acids do just the opposite. Yes, coconut oil can help you lose weight, gain muscle, control cravings, regulate the thyroid, treat candida, and level out your blood sugar all resulting to successful weight loss.
He moves forward revealing the second benefit to the audience which is how it helps to treat skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, and dermatitis. New research shows that something called Boric Acid inside of coconut oil fights off fungal infections. Dr. Oz says: "So, when you have a fungal infection like this (shows a picture), will actually end up with a quick solution that is inexpensive and it makes me excited because Boric Acid can work in other places as well. Instead of using other kinds of medications, I can resort to this."
He moves on to benefit number three: Treats ulcers by killing the bacteria that causes them, H. Pylori. He explains how ulcers may be caused not just by the stress of life and kids, but by this bacteria. Lauric acid is the other key ingredient in organic coconut oil and in high amounts. The only other place lauric acid is in these amounts is human breast milk, so you can just imagine how good it is for us. Now you know about the reviews of Dr. Oz on coconut oil.
