I find that herbs are sometimes helpful in certain situations. My personal favorites listed below. Keep in mind there are many more than what is in this list. I have tried every one on the list with good results. I have not taken the black walnut due to nut allergies. Please be aware of all allergies before taking herbs as this will cause problems in the future.
Alfalfa helps with swelling, ulcers, bone disorders, fractures, arthritis, osteoporosis, and has almost twice as much calcium as a glass of milk! It has enough fiber to help lower cholesterol, almost enough protein as a fried hamburger, plenty of iron, and a lot of B-complex to help with jumpy nerves.
Black Walnut could be taken to help deal with water that might be questionable after drinking.
Catnip could be used for colds and flu. It helps lower fevers, dry up drippy noses, relieves sore, achy bones and helps rid you of massive headaches. For good results, try to take it with something warm.
Cayenne Pepper helps stop bleeding externally. It circulates blood plasma to help block internal clots. If taken with fresh orange juice, it can become a good way to fight off colds.
Chamomile mostly helps with sleep. It has a tryptophan effect when taken in a warm tea or with warm water. It can also help rejuvenate the liver.
Cherry could be used to relieve bad coughs, asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, influenza, and smoking. It is also used as a remedy for gout and to help fight cold symptoms. Cherry may also be used in a lukewarm tea to help counteract fish or seafood poisoning.
Cranberry mostly helps with urinary tract infections or UTI. It also works to prevent kidney stones.
Dandelion helps to cleanse the liver of excess bile. Even the stem can treat warts. It is opened and rubbed on the wart several times daily.
Echinacea is known as a helper for the immune system. It helps fight infectious diseases.
Garlic is very popular. It works well for those having high blood pressure. It helps fight cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and other infections.
Ginger is known for being the anti-nausea cure. It is also good for morning sickness and migraines.
Licorice is good for helping the symptoms of adrenal exhaustion, chronic fatigue or hypoglycemia.
Myrrh is popular as incense. What people are not aware of is myrrh being used to prevent gingivitis. It could be used with a toothpaste during brushing morning and night.
Peppermint has been helping tummies for many years. Is helps digestion and decreases heartburn and gas.
St. John's Wart is commonly known as an anti-depression herb. It helps a person have a more positive attitude.
Valerian could be used as a stress reliever.
Do not take herbs with prescription or over-the-counter drugs as this may cause complications. Allow at least three to four hours before taking after taking medications before taking herbs.
Alfalfa can be used as a pill. I have tried this form and had no ill effects from it. It can also be used as an infusion in a tea. I have not tried this way as it is much easier to take the pill form. I have not heard of it being used in other ways. I hope this helps you.
