This article is information about the Holistic Physician. Quite often the Holistic Physician is also a practicing M.D. This doctor has gone well beyond his M.D. training and has entered the Holistic field of medicine. The Holistic doctor treats not only the body but mind and spirit of the person. Like our Holistic M.D. once told us, "this is a whole different ballgame to an M.D." The Holistic doctor that treated me and my family for so many years would treat with traditional medicine as many of us are used to or he would treat with holistic cures if we wanted to go this route.

This article will describe just what a homeopathic remedy is and I will give one example. First of all remedies are given to treat acute symptoms of an illness. They will jump-start the body to begin a healing process.

Being a nurse for so many years and trained in the traditional medicines, I saw plenty of side effects from most of the medicines I administered. You probably have heard that sometimes the cure is worse than the illness. I found this to be true many times.

I started to look for an alternative means towards healing and healthcare for myself and my family. I was not completely sold on any other means of healing except the traditional medicines and yet I was not happy with this either.

A friend of mine refered me and my family to a holistic doctor about an hour from our home and we stayed with that doctor for about 20 years. The reason we left was we needed to find a doctor closer to home, we just did not want to drive so far anymore and fight the traffic. This doctor gives us the option of how we wanted to be treated. Did we want the traditional medicine or did we want a natural cure. And, he at times offered a combination of both.

The good thing about remedies is that there are no side effects like you would get with medicines. Medicines will often cover up symptoms and do not get to the root of the problem. Remedies work in reverse. There are no side effects with remedies only relief of the problem itself.

Remedies are generally very tiny pearl like pills. They have to be kept in a dark container, as light tends to destroy its strength. When you take a remedy you should not touch the pills because this can contaminate them. They are poured carefully into the cap of the bottle and from there they are poured under the tongue to dissolve. They have a sweet taste, so are pleasant to take. You should not eat or drink for at least 30 minutes after taking a remedy.

Remedies are prescribed by the doctor according to your symptoms.

I will tell you my personal and first experience with a remedy. I was being treated by an allergist near my home, when I started to come down with a simple cold. I took two Tylenol and went to bed early. I was working full-time and I had been under a lot of work stress. I awoke about 2 am in the morning and my heart felt like it was going to pop out of my chest. I got up and paced. It was as though I had a wild lion in my room, and I just felt like I had to run somewhere. If I could just get to the car and drive it into a wall somewhere I would feel better. I was scared, so I called the allergist at 2 am and his solution for me was to go back to bed and in the morning he would order me some Valium. Valium? I did not need Valium and I was not even going to consider that one.

I was ill all night and in the morning I did my best to get into the car and try to make the hour drive to our doctor. I was frightened of everything including the highway driving. I had never experienced anything like this before and even though I was a nurse I did not have a clue as to what was happening to me.

I gave my doctor the symptoms and he started to smile, (I was not smiling). He said, "when a person comes under a lot of stress and is also ill, their body will shut down and sometimes a panic attack will hit them. A panic attack? What was he talking about? I don't get panic attacks!

He said, "you don't need Valium, I am going to give you a remedy. When you feel the symptoms of this panic attack coming on I want you to take five of these pills. And repeat them at the first sign of symptoms. You can repeat the dose every one hour. And, don't worry of overdose because you can't. After a day or two you will be good as new." He also gave me an antibiotic for Bronchitis. The remedy never did anything except take the symptoms away before the attack would hit me, and no side effects at all.

I was so amazed that I researched this alternative medicine and found that what he was giving me was strychnine. You know, the poison, strychnine? Remedies are given for specific symptoms. If you were actually to take strychnine it would give you symptoms of a panic attack and actually kill you. But, the ever so tiny doses of strychnine actually take the symptoms of anxiety away. Remedies work in reverse of the symptoms experienced.

I had a revisit with the doctor the following week I asked him if he were actually trying to kill me or cure me. He laughed and said, "well I can see you have done some research".

Remedies are an awesome alternative to medicine. However, you need to find a doctor that has had education in this field and understands the concept. If it is of interest to you, then you need to study and read as much as possible to educate yourself.

Homeopathic medicine feels that one needs to take control of their own health. Because, if you do not, no one else will. We need to educate ourselves and learn all we can to take control of our health and wellbeing.

I hope I have sparked an interest in you to find out more about homeopathic cures. It will be well worth your time.

Here's to your improved health and wellness
