Cartoon shows have been an integral part of everyone’s life. Whether in print or on TV, these cartoons make the readers/viewers laugh, satisfy their curiosity, and also make their imagination run wild. Here is a list of cartoon shows that have entertained viewers for several decades:

1. Looney Tunes

This Warner Bros. cartoon shows ran from 1930 to 1969. In order to compete with the popularity of Disney’s Mickey Mouse, Warner Bros. launched the series Looney Tunes. Some of the popular characters were Daffy Duck, Ralph Phillips, Porky Pig, Wile E Coyote, and Road Runner. Some of the cartoon shows like Daffy Duck and Porky Pig had definite storylines with the focus on innovativeness, and humor. Both characters found themselves in different situations, assumed several roles, and every time discovered the most humorous way to resolve the problem at hand. Alternatively, Coyote and Road Runner were action-oriented cartoons. They were mostly in the desert environment and the witty Road Runner always pipped Coyote.

2. Tom and Jerry

They are the cherished cat and mouse duo, who became popular right after the release of their first short, Puss Gets the Boot, in 1940. In this episode, the duo was called Jasper and Jinx wherein Jasper tortured Jinx while the latter made failing attempts to scamper away. At last, through blackmailing Jinx succeeds in keeping Jasper away from him. Although MGM studios thought that the old concept of cat chasing mouse would not appeal to the viewers, they were surprised by the latter’s positive reaction. The Tom and Jerry cartoons are still on with regular featuring of episodes on different cartoon channels.

3. Oggy and the Cockroaches

Originated in France and created by Jean-Yves Raimbaud, Oggy, and the cockroaches came to the USA in 1998. Of all the cartoon shows of that era, it was the one, which had both adventure and slapstick comedy. However, the creators took the level of slapstick comedy higher by introducing new elements like submarines, airplanes, etc., which a character used against the other for teaching him a lesson.

Oggy is a peace-loving cat and is blue in color. His house is inhabited by 3 cockroaches named Marky, Dee Dee, and Joey. They are after his food and repeatedly attack Oggy’s refrigerator. The cartoons show Oggy chasing and using every trick to stop the cockroaches, but he ends up hurting himself. With the absence of dialogues, the series is essentially a visual comedy.

4. Richie Rich

The story revolves around a boy named Richie Rich. He is aged between 10 and 13 years old, has a pet dog named Dollar, and lives with his parents. He also has a friend named Gloria and a robot maid.

In the episodes, Richie can be seen going on a variety of adventures with a view to saving his family, the world, or his dog, Dollar.
