Unfortunately we have suffered the loss of an incredible inventor, Steve Jobs. The CEO of Apple died at the age of 56 today (October 5th, 2011). Apple has lost a creative genuis and visionary while the world lost a great human being. His legacy lives on through Apple and the incredible, revolutionary products he has invented.
In a speech, Steve said one of the most profound things I have heard and it really forces you to think about life and the way you live. I think everyone can take something from his spectacular insight to life. He was initally diagnosed with an incurable form of pancreatic cancer and was only expected to live 3-6 months at most. That is when he learned a life lesson that would never be forgotten, live each day like it was your last.
"Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose." -Steve Jobs
Fortunately, he had a successful surgery and was able to live 7 more years form then, continuing to build the legacy we all know him for.
As much as I am saddened by the loss of a great human being and superb innovator, I would much rather reflect on his life and rememeber the genius things he did and the great person he was. He started one of the world's most successful and innovative companies from his garage. He invented the personal computer, then literally put the internet in our pockets. He truly led the information age, making it interactive, easily accessible and fun. Despite the tragic news of being diagnosed with prostate cancer, he continued to have a positive outlook on life. He successfully accomplished something that very few people are able to do, change the world.
Steve often said that you should live each day like your last. His ability to do so allowed him to grow one of the most innovative companies in the world and revolutionize the computer industry. Steve lives on through each of us with the technoligical advancements he has left us. Let us all be grateful for everything Steve has done, for the world.
I would like to pass on my condolences to Steve's wife, Laurene, his family and all of those who loved him.
Thanks for changing the world, you are an inspiration to us all.
Live each day like it was your last.
Steve Jobs (1955-2011)
